This brand new album by Perry is just a new world, a new sound and a whole new era. By opening this album with the smash hit “Never Really Over“ you can tell it’s amazing, songs like “Champagne Problems” and “Tucked” are the best for you to have an incredible summer. Perry also included songs like “Daisies” and “Resilient” which transport you to a place of synchronicity and tranquility. This brand new album by Perry is just a new world, a new sound and a whole new era. Do not understand why critics are hating so much on this album, it's her best album so far and the message about her getting so Smile back after being clinical depressed is so important and beautiful, glad she could leave that dark place and made this beautiful, fun, pop album truly a record you will be listening all week. She shows a more mature Katy Perry but still delivers fun pop songs like "Cry About It Later" and "Teary Eyes" with beautiful messages, also a standout is "Only Love". An album i really appreciate and will be listening with my whole family this week! Amazing Katy Perry Expand

her worst album to date, it didn't made be smile, it's a very predictible record with basically the same sound that she's been doing since 2010, nothing innovative, nothing catchy, so far it's the worst female release of the year

Arguably Katy's best album; it takes influences from all of her previous works in what feels like an accumulation and the end of a chapter of her life, one that she started in 2008 with one of the boys. One thing that ticks me off is the production on "Resilient"- a song that has the best bridge she's ever written.

her best album. some of her best lyrical content, production, cohesiveness. the “critics” were harsh, rude and judged Katy as a person over the actual quality of the music. read the reviews and you’ll see. teary eyes, never really over, cry about it later and not the end of the world are amongst some of her best songs in her discography. support Katy, support smile!

Katy Perry's back to her comfort zone. After the journey "Witness" was for her, she landed on a mature and cleverly composed pop album. The lyrics really showcase her actual mindset; and the production enhances the joyfulness she desired during this past years. Smile feels so care-free; so much so that reviewing it seems kinda pointless. Smile is what you get when an artist just releasesKaty Perry's back to her comfort zone. And once again, Katy shows a more mature but yet popish version of herself. Smile is full of bops and amazing lyrics. Teary Eyes, Not the End of the World and Only Love remind us of PRISM, while songs like Cry About It Later or Resilient give Witness vibes. This album is definitely a grower, and I can't wait to see Katy brings next!

This is definitely one of Katy Perry's best works. It's short but very powerful and the message is clear: get back your smile. And she sure did bring that back to us with pop perfected songs like "Never Really Over", "Tucked" and "Cry About it Later".
There's also some darker songs which are also very powerful, like "Not the End of the World" or "Resilient".

After an album filled with anthems, it beautifully closes with "Only Love" and "What Makes a Woman", coming in full cycle.
Katy Perry reached a new peak in her craft and it's extremely sad to see 'critics' ignore the actual music and make it about their personal bias instead.

She finally got her smile, and herself. This album is the signature Katy with the pop bangers and uplifting anthems.

Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

While Perry finds the occasional moment of quality here (Smile and Tucked both feel like the best possible music we could get from Katy Perry in 2020), Smile is an album searching for an identity—and when it fails, it falls back on lazy writing.

Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
