If you're listening to hip hop, especially hip hop like this, for lyrics, then you're a **** dusthead who needs to get with the times. Subject matter is very preferential anyways and not indicitive of talent. The bottom line is, Mike Will's beats are good, the mixing is good, Swae's melodies are insane, the charisma is there, and there is a lot of experimentation here. It's a very good album

SL-2 still has the definitive touch of Mike will, impressive as always . Amazingly Jim and Sway seem to have matured along the way with their catchy lyrics and club appeal. This album is definitely one to consider seriously ..

while not the budding classic the first one was, the Sremm follow up is not disappointing, the beats are less varied but more spacey this time round and the duo (especially Swae) explore new melodies with enough introspection for it not too be a repetitive retread. I love this album it's amazing. You can't expect it to sound like Sremmlife 1. This time the album is more mature and has a chiller vibe. The album is comprised of a variety of a sounds such as: crunk, cloudtrap, trap, rnb, and more. That doesn't detract from the albums quality though, as it's still an amazing experience all the way to the end. From the beginning to the end it feels like aI love this album it's amazing. The hooks are also extremely catchy and swae lee completely dominates the album. Slim Jimmy does his thing too by being more aggressive and blunt which helps sometimes.
I could go on and on about how amazing this album is to be honest. 8/10

SremmLife 2 might actually be be better than the first. The production is once again very high quality and the songs are incredibly catchy. This album is another hype album with banger after banger. The songs are also catchy but they aren't repetitive (not too much). What would incite the viral mannequin challenge is also a streamlined overstuffed just OK rap record by the exciting duo.

Rae Sremmurd’s Sophomore Album "SremmLife2" was actually such a whole lot of fun to listen to and I really enjoyed it. Most of SremmLife II’s successes are confined to its front half, but the brothers have a strong enough pop sensibility to reward your attention even when they’re on autopilot. [Oct 2016, p.65]

There are real signs of musical development on Sremmurd 2 that point to longevity for the duo.

Even a battery of Mike Will’s topshelf beats can’t save SremmLife 2 from feeling emotionally hollow at times.
