This record is definitely better than "The Illusion of Progress", which was boring and its title was literally speaking of itself at the same time. Returning to down-tuned fat riffing is a turn into the right direction. The only thing holding this record up from being outstanding is an overly melancholism of some tracks, especially the album closer "Something to Remind You". I still think that heavy nu metal album could've been finished with much more blow. Expand

I haven't listened to Staind for very long, but this album has impressed me so much that I certainly had to give it a positive review. Songs like "Failure", "Eyes Wide Open", and "Wannabe" are quite easy to relate to, as well as having melodies beyond pleasant to experience, and a power that strikes me at every note. This album is the best that I've listened to in years.

this album starts to lean back to dysfunction, but less depressing and with cleaner vocals. the best songs are in my opinion: 'Eyes Wide Open' 'Not Again' 'Something to Remind You'

Wow Staind really impressed me , easily one of their best two albums . I love how they seem angry at the world again . I really enjoy the tracks Eyes Wide Open,Failing and The Bottom . Aaron Lewis really sings his ass off . Staind really delivers on this one.

Staind is one of the worst albums I've heard all year, a top to bottom exercise in bland, formulaic, boring rock.

Staind may not be much more than noise -- it's not especially hooky or melodic -- but the group wins points for unexpectedly delivering something visceral.
