Top drawer reurn from Bob, and a great mix of familiar styles - some real heavy tunes here - almost Beaster-like. Fantastic!

Typically high quality release from Bob Mould. Good to hear him relatively happy, yet still sounding as dense and heavy as ever. No reservations about this one at all.

His records with his current trio are his best since Sugar, and this one is easily my favorite so far (that is, as of 2021 - he made a fifth album with them last year). Better tunes, better hooks, even better production (strings! only a little on the first and last tracks, and they're quite nice!)

This is his biggest, brightest, most crackling and electric album since his Sugar days. [Apr 2019, p.86]

Bob Mould is not pulling up stylistic roots on Sunshine Rock, but it’s still breezier than his average, thanks in part to the use of an 18-piece string section on much of the album. [Mar 2019, p.62]

Sunshine Rock is bitter and hopeful, full of rage and promise. It’s an album that defines a moment in all its ugliness and the rare moments of beauty that we have to keep fighting for.
