Aug 9, 2018Taking advantage of elements borrowed by Stooges, Dead Kennedys, The best of Sonic Youth, Sex Pistols' and MC5's irreverence, Slint's post rock experimentalism, The Cure and The Smith's post-punk vein, britpop creativity and made a memorable act.

BrandonMJun 1, 2008The epitome of matching creativity with melody. This is music on a truly artistic level, yet it is still imminently approachable- no small feat.

TeddyRMay 1, 2008Terrific album. It somehow still sounds relevant even while still sounding like old-school Fugazi.

WillO.Jul 22, 2004Not their best, but it's still an amazing album and, just like the rest of their work, has a unique sound. There's no reason not to like Fugazi.

MikeCSep 5, 2003the fugazi have always been an great band, but with this album they finally put the nail in the coffin of all the people that punk is artless noise. the members of fugazi have made the most complex and musical album of their career. to put in short no matter if you like metal, punk or hard rock the argument is a great album period.

JamesR.Nov 7, 2001their best work yet, skillful changes throughout, blended with awesome melodies and powerful riffs. once again brenden and joe show the rest of the world what rhythm is all about, while guy's voice is more powerful than ever before.

JasonD.Oct 21, 2001Only these guys can make music like this, in a genre all their own, they keep their music fresh, intuitive, and fluidly tight.

UncutThe Argument showcases a band of uncommon power grappling with subtler shades as well as their quiet/loud, dub-influenced trademark sound. [Dec 2001, p.102]
-
Where each successive album seemed like a new page, The Argument feels like a brilliant new chapter.
-
Musically, The Argument represents Fugazi's best collection of songs from their 13-year career.
