    So few bands may be better suited to the greatest-hits treatment, and with the group going on hiatus (following 2007's middling Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace), now is the time to do it. The standard edition collects 13 of the hits and features two songs, "Wheels" and "Word Forward," recorded for this compilation, and a previously unreleased acoustic version of "Everlong."

    Greatest Hits isn't arranged chronologically, which isn't a detriment; if anything, skipping through the years emphasizes just how consistent the Foos have been, always delivering oversized rock & roll where the hooks are as big as the guitars.

    Want a greatest hits album from these guys? Listen to their first two albums and consider it a rock solid double-disk.

    The Foo FIghters are an example of how ridiculously tepid, luke warm and populist rock music is praised by the masses. Seriously, get outside of your boxes, this is nowhere near a 9. It is not even in the same universe!… Expand
