This is a fantastic CD for fans of melodic, literate alternative pop. In particular, "The Humpty Dumpty Love Song" is a mini-masterpiece. It will give you goosebumps.

Sorry but not a great album at all. There are some nice songs in there but they are spaced inbetween non-descript filler. Travis has gotten progressively more mellow with each album and this album is more Joni Mitchel & Simon Garfunkle then anything deserving to front music festivals. To think that these guys had the chance to be neck-and-neck with Coldplay and blew it. Previous album was better and I'd give THAT a 7 for being sparse in areas. Expand

Too similar in essence to The Man Who without ever reaching the same melodic hummability

Just a really quality album from start to finish. Each song brings its own unique thing, and you can tell that they spend a lot of time with all of their songs. Lyrically and musically their songs are all very good. Best way to describe them is a poor mans coldplay, but in some songs they eclipse coldplay. It amazes me that for the most part these guys remain unheard of.

I can't understand. Why some critic must be always so overlooking, consider their forecast and hopes as what shall, or better MUST, happen? This album is simply fantastic.

You simply feel better after listening to The Invisible Band. But unlike so many popular groups today Travis is sincere. Nothing is trite, formulaic, or manufactured. This album's overall feel is realistically happy and optimistic.

This is a must-have album-- "Sing", "Pipe Dreams", "Indefinitely", and --especially--"Side", are all absolutely amazing songs. "Side" is astonishing, really. It is true that this album slows down--around tracks 6-10, I believe--but no bad songs. Must-see live show, as well.

Travis may not be the next Beatles or even Radiohead but their sound remains pure and original to my rhythmic ears.

this is simply a masterpiece...travis achieved what very few bands can....delivering an album which is worth listening up to the end. the melodies are not new but rmarkable, it's clearly not a musical revolution but it's by far the album which is worth listening now, flowers in the window and the last 2 songs are my favourites

It's just as good as 'The Man Who'. Travis surely know the magic and the art of crafting the sweet, melancholic music that's very delicate and heavenly. The album can't be listened in one go because all the songs are equally attractive. The best catch in the album is 'Side'. 'Flowers in the Window', 'Pipe Dreams, 'The Humpty Dumpty Love Song' and 'Sing' - all are equally close to being second.

  1. This album is so lightweight and airy, it often consigns itself to the background.
  2. If it didn't follow an album with so many sweetly anthemic, sing-along classics, The Invisible Band would warrant wholehearted recommendation as a pleasant, pneumatic summer trifle. Under the weight of heightened expectations, it's a disappointment.

Travis' knack for making saccharine songs is both a blessing and a curse; one doesn't know whether to feel the love or scream bloody murder.
