JohnnySMar 4, 2007It does what it wants to do very efficiently and competently: make party beats for people to feel good to. I'd take this over Daft Punk's latest offering anytime.

scorpioAug 16, 2006All 8 tracks on this album are house-music gems. If you enjoy dancing, give it a try.

lucaspAug 18, 2006anyone listening to this record with a previous interest in dance music (ie not the kids hitching along with the vice records/dfa 1979 bandwagon, who will love it without reserve) will see through its gloss (and liberal slathering of incessant vocoders) as the cheap 80s retro-cool cash in it is.

DanAug 28, 2006I don't see how the user reviews are so polarized here. To me this album is extremely middle of the road. It sometimes develops cool loops and hooks, but does nothing but repeat them relentlessly. The album just goes nowhere. What happened here? It's surprising because the band puts out such wonderful remixes.

DavidSNov 5, 2006I know that people have said Daft Punk, and that was my main reason for picking up this album, but it's differences make it something that, if you can get past the actual strangeness of the album, it has a unique, gritty charm. It's unique, and a breath of fresh air from the usual electronica genre.

[Anonymous]Aug 20, 2006I can see how critics wouldn't like this, because it isn't really groundbreaking or challenging, but that's exactly what makes it so much fun. Anyone who likes DFA79 or house music should listen to it, it's a great energetic CD, perfect for dancing.

ptownsSep 17, 2006I love the remixes these guys do and love DFA79, but this album is just... not good.

Alternative PressSweaty and thick, convincingly urgent and highly sexual. [Jul 2006, p.210]

True, there's a pop sensibility at work here that betrays their band roots, but that's exactly what makes this the kind of dance album you can actually listen to from beginning to end.

Keeler succeeds in meticulously reconstructing the electronic music he clearly has a taste for, but without stirring in any of his own personality the songs do little more than run in place, joylessly hitting the marks without changing the rules in any meaningful or attention-grabbing way.
