Seven albums in, Pond-life is exhibiting clear signs of accelerated own-terms evolution.

Even after seven albums, the fun and excitement is still there, albeit in a new and changing way.

The Weather still has their fundamentals at its core - out-there psych-rock, Nicholas Allbrook’s urgent wails, mind-boggling lyrics that take several listens to comprehend--but it’s given them a polish and an upgrade into something new and improved.

Lyrically, it's a broad, emotionally-led investigation into 'the state of things'. By no means, however, is it bogged down by the precise or the singular or the definitive. Within its lyrical muddlings, we might be able to tease of a forecast of things to come, or it might just be fooling us with a potent swirling of punchy psychedelic rock.

For all its disjointedness, the album never wanders more than a few inches away from the sublime. It’s a document of a band knocking loudly on the door of greatness.

Tame Impala's Kevin Parker no longer plays in the band, but is still on as producer, and it results in Pond's tightest and most unified release yet, at the expense of some of that personality. [Apr-Jun 2017, p.85]

Perfect combination of classic psych and electronic music. Every song is catchy as well as intricate and deep. The album has a consistent concept that is cohesively established with every song. The themes expressed are relevant and thought provoking. Also is one of the best mixed/produced albums I’ve ever heard. Seriously one of, if not the best album of the decade. Expand

It´s no wonder that Pond is often mistakenly called "Spin Off" or "Off Shoot" to Tame Impala. Seens both share members with each other. ItIt´s no wonder that Pond is often mistakenly called "Spin Off" or "Off Shoot" to Tame Impala. Seens both share members with each other. It just so happens that Tame Impala is more widely known because of it´s success abroad. But what many ppl outside Australia might not realise is that Pond has been active seens 2008. Although "the first" album "Beard Wives Denim" didn´t introduce them to the outside world until 2012. .By then they had already released 3 albums. Someone jokingly suggested that "Pond is the wilder/unhinged little brother of Tame Impala. Which is pretty good description. Seens Pond has always been little more "bold" in my eyes. Always bringing colorful and goofy mix of music.

So is "The Weather" any different to the rest? Both yes and no. It´s hard to imagine that this is the 7th album of the band. Because they still feel as hungry, the colorfulness and playfulness can still be heard in the music. But also a seriousness underneath all that bubbling fun. That speaks of mankind at its worst.

However, it´s clear that they picked up a direction and foucus. That was actually missing in previous albums. For once as they actually said themselves in a recent interview" they sound like they have a clue of what they are doing" This album is the most constructed and well produced out of any of the albums released so far. Credit where credit's due of course also thanks to Parker´s excellent guidance. If Tame Impala dosen´t step up. Pond might actually surpass very soon. Give this album a listen it will most definitely be worth you´re time. And also one of the absolute top albums of 2017.
