You want the mix to jump and pound and excite. But it doesn’t, and the choruses feel hung out to dry. This makes for a frustrating listen, because the talent is there – damn, even the songs are there.

In a record where there are a minor derivations on a tried and tested formula, 'Still Life' is a major curveball; a high-risk almost jazz-like number that's almost ruined by the strange whizzing noise that could easily be a kazoo teasing its wares throughout.

There's some post-winter optimism to be had in its relentless good cheer, but for the most part, it's too indistinguishable from the rest of the pack to have much of an impact.

This is a hugely charismatic debut that, above everything else, is just very good fun.
