    They are still nowhere near as inspired as their contemporaries, but they can write the occasional anthemic chorus or catchy hook. At the moment, I slightly prefer their last album (The Strangest Things), but a few more listens and the tighter production of There's A Fire may change my mind.

  1. Brit-leaning space-pop that switches rhythmic gears with pleasing regularity from dreamy to driving.
  2. The songwriting grows less challenging as the album unfolds, often lacking the kind of vocal performances that provide real traction.
  3. There are a couple snoozy and wonky moments among the hits, but Longwave is definitely worth warming up to.
