This album, except for the title track, is badly mixed, bad, bad, bad, also it's horrible. It's just an absolute disgrace to the Bon Jovi name. It drags on for way too long, and has even cheesier lyrics than all Bon Jovi albums put together. I'm feeling a big, fat, juicy 0 on this one. Expand

This is for me their best album in years and every song on it is very fun and beautifully written. The tracks on the album that stand out are Labor of Love and Reunion. The only thing is a lot of the songs sound alike.

John Bon Jovi is a guy who knows exactly what to give his fans. This House is Not For Sale is exactly what people have come to expect from the band since the new millennium. The album follows a very similar template to recent albums like The Circle and What About Now. The title track and lead single is very similar to Have a Nice Day and We Weren't Born to Follow. It follows the same Bon Jovi sound and its catchy, their fans normally eat it right up.

Bon Jovi's 13th album takes a bit of a hit as former lead guitarist Richie Sambora has absolutely no involvement. Phil X replaces Sambora and he really doesn't do anything to assert himself as a worthy successor. He has a few good moments but he mostly hides behind simple riffs and Bon Jovi's lyrics. Sambora's writing is missed as well as no other band member receives a writing credit with producer John Shanks and some third parties getting some credits.

There are some moments in This House is Not for Sale that are memorable and do feel like some new ground for the band but they are few and far between. Bon Jovi's lyrics are fairly solid through most of the record with the exception of Knockout and Reunion with are full of Bon Jovi clichés. They take up space after Jon Bon Jovi stuck two excellent songs (Teardrop to the Sea and Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday Morning) on a throw away record that wrapped up their contract with Mercury records. Both of those songs are probably better than anything we get in This House is Not for Sale.

This House is Not for Sale will probably impress Bon Jovi's fan base of middle aged moms, but it isn't much more than an excuse to go back on the road and make millions on tour.

I highlight: This House is Not For Sale, Labor of Love, Born Again Tomorrow, Come On Up to Our House.

An album straight from the heart. After 30+ years you gotta give them some credit for never giving up and staying true to their style. Fantastic lyrics, terrific bonus tracks,

If you are like me and long for the days of New Jersey, KTF, and These Days, you will be disappointed.

The album has a feel of Have a Nice Day and the Circle. Which isn't a bad thing, it's just not what I would call classic Bon Jovi.

Stand out tracks are This House Is Not For Sale, Living With The Ghost, Knockout, Labor of Love, Born Again Tomorrow, The Devil's In The Temple, and the bonus track of We Don't Run from Burning Bridges.

This album would have been a 10 had JBJ taken songs from Burning Bridges like, A Teardrop to the Sea, Fingerprints, Who Would You Die For, and Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday and replaced New Year's Day, Scars On This Guitar, Reunion, and God Bless this mess.

Phil X does a terrific job on the album, but the album has very little soul. Richie Sambora was the soul of Bon Jovi and he is definitely missed, especially from a vocal perspective.

That all being said, a very good album and I am glad I gave it a chance.

The best since Have a Nice Day! However, the band doesn't take risks and produce the same formula. It's time to change the album producer e breathe different air.

a great Bon Jovi album... good singles and a few surprises... deluxe version features two of the best songs the band has had in a while "Goodnight New York" and "Touch of Gray" ... they should be on the primary version of the album

A return to the harder rock sound of the band's earlier days, this album is a nice comeback from the okay album that was what about now from a few years ago.

This album really shows how much Richie's songwriting is missed. These songs have no depth, no soul...this is what Sambora brought to the band. Some of the songs are catchy, but that doesn't make up for the extreme lack of substance on this album. The lyrics are far less than inspired, and the instrumental work follows suit. The title track is a very infectious tune that I've caught myself listening to on more than one occasion, but even that song only goes skin-deep. The arena-filling sound that runs through modern music owes something to Bon Jovi, but This House… comes across more like their third-tier spiritual successors, comprised of forgettable dance-rock and schmaltzy slow-burners loaded with endless platitudes and those echoey, staccato guitar lines that bands do when they want to sound big.

Bon Jovi’s first album since guitarist Richie Sambora’s departure doesn’t tear up the old formula.

Bon Jovi and Shanks may not have done much to freshen up the band's sound--they don't take any mid-2010s musical trends into consideration--but that simmering defiance does mean this is the band's liveliest album in years.
