A step forward if compaired to Weather Diaries (which was a solid album too). They might sound too light for the ones who were used to their first albums, but i think it's a very cohesive and organic piece of work.

Great new album! Risks were taken, it’s creative and inventive, it reminds you of why we love Ride.

Another strong album by Ride. One step above the already great Weather Diaries, This Is Not A Safe Place confirms that every shoegaze band from the 90s should reunite (I'm talking to you, Boo Radleys, Chapterhouse an d other Adorable).

Continues a great comeback for the sometime shoegazers. Ride break new ground here with dreamy pop mixing with spiky post-punk. Sonically beautiful. Only the lyrics in places hold this back from being a 10/10 album. Beware, the album takes multiple listens to reveal itself. But when it does it is awesome sonic journey. Play loud.

Sadly, the difference here in 2019 is that reaching the end of This Is Not a Safe Place—listening to the whole album—is not as rewarding as it needed to be.

Their newer, glossier pop sheen pedestals them as the makers of proficiently written and intently catchy tunes that are inoffensive and innocuous - and never adventurous enough not to be.

Here Ride aren’t just treading water so much as striking out for the horizon.
