BobbyOct 23, 2004More textured, more mature than previous albums. I just think everyone wants another "Deceptacon," and at 34, Hanna's not giving it.

JakeHOct 30, 2004Kathleen Hanna is a 9 on my scale. Yeah...she's a looker.

RossJul 23, 2005There is no group as impassioned, wild savvy, politically hip and sexy as this trio. LONG LIVE LE TIGRE!!!

DOct 19, 2004This record is incredibly boring and lifeless, lacking the inspired spontaneity and invention of their earlier releases. A confirmed dud.

EricPOct 20, 2004If it's a "confirmed dud," why did you give it a 5? I'd say try not to hold up to Le Tigre's earlier releases and try to take it by itself. Some parts are more than a little awkward, but nothing anyone who buys a Le Tigre album can't handle.

[Anonymous]Apr 10, 2005Aside from the fact that Le Tigre signed with an awful major label, I feel let down. It felt as if they were definitely "playing it safe", both in terms of experimenting with sounds as well as the statements that they were trying to make. They are capable of doing much better than this.

#1Fan(notqueer)Nov 26, 2004No comparison to Le Tigre's stunning debut, but still carried by the genius of Kathleen Hanna. It's not going to make outsiders into fans, but Le Tigre fans will adore it.

Sep 16, 2022Not my favorite album by them, but you do have to agree that some songs are amazing.
-
Whether thrashing out punk anthems Bikini Kill or turning out dancefloor-ready disco pop as on ‘This Island’, Hanna has always had something to say, and never has her message sounded so clear.
-
Entertainment WeeklyThe band is throwing a dance party--albeit DNC-promoting--led by cheerleader choruses and beats that snap, skip, and glisten like something out of a '79 discotheque. [22 Oct 2004, p.95]

Kathleen Hanna’s girlish yelp grates more than usual, practically bereft of charm, and her bandmates can barely write a functional song much less play one.
