Dillon's rustling electronics plink, twitch and occasionally spin out, set apart by a cutesy vocal style and eccentric lyrics that sound a bit like a baby-voiced Kate Bush.

As distant whirs and an understated funk beat get accentuated by a classic '80s electronic handclap, the title track from Dillon's debut album almost sounds like a collation of a variety of styles from across years and locations.

As strong as Dillon's songs are, the idea that there are some missed opportunities here can't help but nag at even its strongest moments.

Everything is bound by a vocal that speaks to the soul... There are moments here, details of songs, which cause the throat to close, the eyes to widen.

Cooing fragmentary, dreamlike lyrics in a fuzzy-warm purr, this young singer's kittenish vocal affectations will grate on some... [but] Dillon redeems her whimsy with promising nods towards Bjork, Joanna Newsom and Lykke Li. [Jan 2012, p.84]

Some tracks are gaps or bridges and are more than awkward, but some others (like Your Flesh Against Mine, You Are My Winter, Texture Of My Blood and Thirteen Thirty-five {one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long time}) are beyond amazing and profound. She is weird, is broken, is dying, and is not afraid to tell us all, and I really admire and respect that. Because she (with this work) makes herself an artist that must be admired and respected. Well done.. Expand
