If you're checking out their fifth album to discover groundbreaking, controversial new music, you are a strange individual indeed.

Unfortunately, the lack of powerful hooks, either in the melodies or riffs, means that all that coloring is on a grayscale, keeping Time of My Life a muted black-and-white exercise in half-hearted soul-searching.

If you already like 3 Doors Down (and plenty do), then Time of My Life will be another album worth listening to; if you're one of the people who liked "Kryptonite", it's probably not worth bothering.

  1. Definitely different from any of their other albums, but I like it. Not sure why it was given such a low score... "When You're Young" is my favorite song on the album as I can relate to it greatly. Would definitely recommend this record to my friends. Expand

  2. If there’s one thing 3 Doors Down does well it’s maintaining their sound. They’ve formed a very distinct sound for themselves so their fans will always know it’s them whether The Better Life or Time Of My Life is playing. Their albums names sound the same, their lyrics sound the same, their music sounds the same.... they sound exactly the same as when they started. There’s no progression or maturation like you’d expect from a band that’s on their 5th album. Now the album itself is decent (expressive lyrics, solid music) just because 3 Doors Down is a good band. They’ve perfected their trademark grungy hard rock sound and they’re sticking to it for better or for worse. Perhaps they’ve hit a creative roadblock or they’re too afraid of losing their current fans to experiment with their sound, either way, at some point they are going to have to find a balance between staying true to themselves and having the freedom to create something new if they want to survive in the ever changing music industry. If you do listen to this album, ‘She Is Love’ probably has the best lyrics. And it’s the least depressing. Expand

  3. SAME OLD SAME OLD, BEEN A FAN OF 3 DOORS DWON FOR MANY YEARS, BUT IM STARTING TO LOOSE MY PATIENCE, REALLY ENJOYED LAST ALBUM BUT WITH TIME OF MY LIFE THEY REALLY DID NOT INNOVATE, SAME GUITAR SOUNDS, SAME MUSIC SCHEME, REALLY DISAPOINTING AND THE WORST PART THEY ARE STARTING TO INCLUDE OLD HITS, THEY ARE STARTING TO LOOSE THERE TOUCH, THEY MIGHT AS WELL RELEASE A GREATEST HIT ALBUM THAN JUST KEEP ON MAKING THE SAME MUSIC WITH DIFFERENT LYICS. 3/10 Expand
