An album that's easily good enough to keep Wolfmother in orbit. [13 Feb 2016, p.53]

This is bustling rock'n'roll that doesn't think too hard about much else. [Mar 2016, p.82]

Mostly, though, Victorious simply colors within the lines drawn by others, scratching the itch of those already inclined to seek it out.

Victorious is premium Wolfmother in places, and pretty much abominable in others.

Victorious amounts to little more than a thrown-together mess.

The riffs are certainly bigger and ballsier than those on the past few records, but Stockdale seems to have lost his personal line to the gods of the ’70s and is left settling for the lesser players.

Advice: buy the deluxe edition with the 2 bonus track (Wedding and Remove Your Mask) because they are amazing, can't understand why they didn't put those tracks on the regular album

It doesn't pretend to reinvent the wheel, it doesn't have to. It resembles more of 80s heavy than 70s hard to my ears, and that fits like a glove for Wolfmother sound. A real treat for fans. Also a nice change of pace from the stoner-rock lo-fi release from 2014, New Crown. Just don't expect or try to compare this to their first album, its really different, but still pretty good music. Enjoy. I'm sure I will. Expand

The riffs are good, energetic, nothing exceptional. The vocals remind me of Jack White a bit. There are some surprises harmonically, especially on "Happy Face" which really wouldn't be that good of a song if it weren't for the weird stoner-desert rock chorus. I also like the explosive start of "Best of a Bad Situation" and the 2nd half of "Victorious" where Wolfmother spices things up with some fast paced riffing and rocking. The chorus of "Gypsy Caravan" reminds me of Jethro Tull a bit. Overall this is a nice rock album, you won't regret giving it a listen, you won't be blown away, but neither will you be disappointed. Maybe a bit weaker cause compared to the earlier albums its a bit more in the back less and less in your face, supported by the appearance of songs like Pretty Peggy. As usual, Stockdale rips off EVERYBODY! The riffs are cool, and the production is pleasing, but the lyrics are banal. "The Love That You Give"As usual, Stockdale rips off EVERYBODY!
