BenjaminK.Apr 12, 2008This album requires multiple listens to be fully appreciated. By no means as good as "The Loon", but it's still an amazingly fun record from one of the most unique rock acts to come out in the last decade.

DanielB.Apr 17, 2008Dave Fridmann ruined "Some Loud Thunder"? I don't think so-- that album is brilliant! And this one is damn good. I even like the poppier tunes that no one seems to be talking about-- "Headshock" and "Hang Them All". You're just not listening right. P.S. They're brilliant live.

SenorGringoApr 11, 2008After multiple listens, this album gets stronger and stronger. I was a little put off after a couple casual listens b/c I felt the sonic fuzz made it difficult to distinguish one song from the next but listening closer is extremely rewarding. Very cool band with a very cool sound.

Alternative PressIt's rare to pull off an album this succint and not invite boredom; it's even rarer if it fucking rocks. [May 2008, p.135]

There are enough sturdy ideas in Walk It Off’s first half – just about--to ensure Tapes ‘N Tapes’ good ship stays afloat for a third bout, and it’s definitely a record that’ll reward repeated plays, but with the twilit otherness of "The Loon" largely evaporated here, it’ll need a change of tack to put the wind back in their sails and set the blogosphere to reeling once more.

There are pleasures to be found on Walk It Off, and in the context of Tapes 'n Tapes growth as songwriters, the record is a modest breakthrough. [Apr 2008, p.102]
