  • Summary: The four-track split release from Pantera/Down singer Philip Anselmo and Texas trash metal band Warbeast is a taster for full-length albums from both artists later in the year.

    The result is jaw-dropping. [12 Jan 2013, p.52]

Warbeast impresses with their modern thrash aesthetics, but Anselmo's contribution is the selling point to War of the Gargantuas.

A timely holiday stocking stuffer for the aging mosh pit veteran in your family, but not exactly mandatory listening for everyday metal heads.

Realistically it is Anselmo’s two songs, “Conflict” and “Family, ‘Friends’ and Associates”, which will summon most of the attention here, as Anselmo, who is now backed by The Illegals, is still a massive draw.... But credit must be given to Warbeast who more than hold their own on this EP.

No new ground is broken, but it's enjoyable, cathartic mosh pit fodder. [Feb 2013, p.88]
