    There's a tragic humanism in these songs that almost recalls "Dead Man Walking".... There's a rare depth beneath his subtle guitar and tired, textured voice, one that resonates beyond any little musical coterie.

    It's all very precious stuff, sounding like some of Sebadoh's best material. Kids who've eaten up the whole indie-rock thing thus far will go bananas over Pedro the Lion.

    this album is way underrated...i think it's on of the best albums of all time. it really makes you think. in more ways than one. Avoiding being caught doesn't mean yer conscience is clear....… Expand

    I wanted so badly to give it a 9 based on the title track, which is slow and somewhat sludgy, but damned if I don't just keep coming back to this one time and time again. It's by far my favorite, exploring themes of religion, murder, relationships, family, and salvation in the twisted, quixotic way that only Dave Bazan can. This and Control are just unbeatable for me.… Expand
