    John Grant has proven to be an interesting and very polarized artist. Or I love what he does, or I completely hate it, and this is not the exception to that rule. While I loved and stayed surprised by "Boy from Michigan" (2021), 2018 was a hard year for him with what he did in "Love Is Magic" (2018) and his debut with Creep Show: "Mr. Dynamite" (2018), two of the projects I struggled theJohn Grant has proven to be an interesting and very polarized artist. "Yawning Abyss" is a little bit of a self warning to what to expect in this new album, and it is nothing new, nothing important, nothing really entertaining, just a bunch of guys experimentation with ambient sounds, upbeat tunes and some retro and futuristic notes and feels. I understand the passion of music for the sake of art, but the sake of enjoyment might prove to be equally or more important than that. I hope great things from John Grant, I just would like him to not have a lot of scrub in his yard, if you know what I mean.… Expand

    Creep Show’s second album Yawning Abyss reaches further into your soul, and once there, it really gets to work, rummaging furtively and stealthily metastasising. The more spins, the more you submit to its charms.
