It doubles down on his distinctively mellow, '60s- and '70s-vintage sound. This time around, after demoing the songs with a four-track tape machine, he borrowed an eight-track reel-to-reel recorder to capture the official takes with his band.

It's hard not to want some of what he's having. Elsewhere, "Health Machine" adds a delightful dose of fuzz, whilst "Next to You" and "Now I Feel It" groove beautifully, all the while adorned by beautifully placed and processed vocals, on which the echo and reverb is just perfect. A true early summer delight.

You, Forever isn’t a soft-rock record, but it is a record that reframes a certain kind of softness as strength.

These songs come with fuzzy edges, a puff of smoke, a gentle wobble. It's Owen's solid songwriting skills that tether them to Earth, though. [Summer 2018, p.109]
