Sometimes the framework of the game holds it back, but Eagle Island is an adorable little action platformer that pretty much everyone can enjoy. [Issue #45 – March/April 2020, p. 22]
All in all, Eagle Island is a very charming game. It combines a beautiful aesthetic with a simple yet endearing story and some fun gameplay. Despite the issues with balancing, it is still a lot of fun to play, and it’s hard to deny the rush you get when managing a 20-hit combo in midair against a giant snake. It’s a lot of fun to play and should keep its hooks in you long after you’ve finished it thanks to different ways to play it.
Eagle Island is an enjoyable rogue-like game and an unenjoyable Metroidvania that is fortunately pulled up by the fun combat system, beautiful art style and addictive dungeon crawling.
Eagle Island is rife with outrageous promise, but despite its beautiful art and sound fundamental controls, everything else on the periphery falls short. This is an elegant trip that is overburdened by pratfalls and reiteration.

Summary With its falconry-inspired gameplay & procedurally generated worlds, Eagle Island is set to a beautifully modernized pixel art aesthetic and provides a breath of fresh air to the character platforming genre. Eagle Island can be played in either Story, Roguelite or Speedrun mode.
