An excellent action game with terrific combat and spot-on controls. The campaign is at a decent length, but there should have been more to do after clearing it.
Evil West is very much like a cowboy version of Shadow Warrior 3 that has increased action content. Its combat system is well designed. There are various gun skills which can bring players fresh experiences, but there is not much depth in level design, the puzzle-solving parts also slow down the rhythm. What's more, you can really feel that Evil West lacks polishing in many details, which makes the quality of the game unsatisfying.
Poor writing and some technical issues are not enough to hold back what is otherwise a blast to play. Solo or co-op if a turn-your-brain-off type of kill-a-thon sounds appealing I think this one is worth it.
Dumb, fun and full of western slang, Evil West has snuck out into a crowded release season with a unique selling point: fun, with very little nonsense.
Very interesting concept of science western + vampire magic. Well made cut-scenes. Good dialogues and characters. But I didn't like the gameplay. I'm tired of having to be a "keyboard pianist". This abundance of skills and weapons in almost everything makes you beat with your fists. And either do it like a pianist or go through the whole game with the same movements. No middle solutions. The game is generally good, but I'm just tired. I went through so many games that I wanted something just a little bit better in game-play mechanics. The rest was interesting.
Great new IP, more games should be more daring to create something new rather than rehashing the same old IP's.
Also has pre-rendered cutscenes and plays like God of War.
Okey it was fun for couple of levels but after we start running circles. Bosses from previous levels became a mobs on next levels. You beatin them in same amoung on same arenas again and again and again. Walking straight line from one arena to another.
Combat system is a 2 buttons pepega. All what you need to do is a beat small enemies by pressing a single button, and after press ult to kill big ones. So exiting.
Also I'd like to point out big boss fightes. They are horrible cause everything blowing, shinning, electric arcs and bosses just lost in this mess.
Everything else in the game - boring walkin-looting gold sessions.
Unreal engine 4 shader compilation stutters are present and the color grading is awful, otherwise its pretty good for an old-school feeling type of game. Great premise, but average execution.
SummaryA dark menace consumes the Old West. In solo or coop, fight with style in visceral, explosive combat against bloodthirsty monstrosities. Eradicate the vampiric hordes with your lightning-fueled gauntlet and become a Wild West Superhero.
