Grim Dawn is still a fantastic game that any fan of the action RPG style will enjoy. There are tons of customization options not only with the game mechanics, but with the character builds as well. It’s a beefy game and with all the expansions added in, this is a complete package that any RPG fan will enjoy and get a ton of time in and while the menu navigations aren’t the best in the world, it’s something that now Xbox fans can enjoy.
Grim Dawn: Definitive Edition is an overwhelmingly great package, stuffed with hundreds of hours of content, incredible replayability, a variety of distinct classes to choose from, a huge open world ripe for exploration, more loot than imaginable, and fun combat. Despite its age, Grim Dawn holds up incredibly well when stacked against more modern ARPGs and has made a fluid transition from PC to console with only a few minor slowdown issues.
Do not let early reviews ruin this game for you. Early on there was an issue with FPS being capped, it has since been fixed. I play on Xbox series X and have zero lag, Very rare stutters, and have had no crashes or dashboards since they patched this game within weeks of release. This game ports over wonderfully! If you need help in game my xbl is k00se (zeros)!
The gameplay is the real hook here and it'll definitely have you coming back again and again. In fact (and we should whisper this), the gameplay found in Grim Dawn: Definitive Edition is more preferable than that of the recent remake of Diablo II: Resurrected.
Despite a basic technical aspect, Grim Dawn Definitive Edition happens to be richer than most of its competitors, no more no less. The class system allowing the player to freely combine them as well as the Devotion and its numerous possibilities can turn any fan of theorycraft and optimisation into an addict. Playing with a controller is pure fun and the exploration and combat phases are constantly rewarded with a plethora of loot. The only real downside is the forgettable musical atmosphere which unfortunately doesn’t fit the action and impedes it from reaching the highest rankings of the genre. More accessible than Path Of Exile and more intense than Diablo 2 Resurrected, Grim Dawn Definitive Edition is a title that should delight Hack & Slash fans.
Mon évaluation est basée principalement sur GD et un peu sur ses extensions sur PC.
+ très vaste;
+ diversité de classes très élevée;
+ relativement balancé;
+ environnement semi-ouvert
+ le niveau facile est vraiment facile.
- trop limité au niveau du stockage, notamment celui partagé, tant sur la capacité que sur la gestion des items;
- jeu semble un peu vieillot malgré la version 1.2 (déc. 2022);
- combats manquent de sensations;
- cartes ne changent pas avec un nouveau personnage donc répétitif à ce niveau;
- un peu trop complexe sur certains aspects et manque d'infos par moment;
- Textes en français mais pas les dialogues.
- etc.
Don't be fooled by reviews, praising Grim Dawn, based on it's great steam-release. I wouldn't call it a total mess on xbox, but there are far too many problems that need to be fixed and some of them made me stop playing, till promised updates are out.
That beeing said there only was one update in all this weeks. Not enough for the hefty pricetag and potential buyers should wait and see if there will be future updates. If not, than this should really be played on a pc.
Crazy that there are Crate employees on reddit and the own website, getting somewhat snappy and short-tempered over critics, so yeah... money well spend.
edit: updated just after i wrote this... will edit if it really change things.
edit 2: no more crashes so far (they were easy triggered, seems fully fixed), merit tokens now working and reversed audio fixed too.
edit 3: constant crashes now on Multiplayer. And if that wouldn't be enough: the crashes destroyed two of my character save files. DON'T BUY THIS GAME!
beeing able to play Grim Dawn on console, the half-hearted port aside, is something many arpg-fans waited for. The game itself makes up for the lazy port if you are desperate for diablo alternatives.
also should have been like this from day one, really!
still only 5 points, aside from beeing in deals with gold already, the pricetag is far too high. you get d2r and d3 inkl. dlc for the same. and these are real console ports.

i can't believe the price crate charges for this mess. i stupidly pre-ordered and couldn't believe that after all these years they had for the port, elementary things like text scaling or graphics options were completely missing at first. there was then an update a few weeks later that added the missing options. since then, however, the game is no longer playable without constant crashes. important game functions that affect playing with additional characters don't work. fortunately for the developers, most of the trouble starts late in the game, so there are some reviews that praise the game more than due. bad luck for us buyers: updates have been announced and promised for weeks, but until today nothing has been delivered. in crates forum it is said that they are deliberately collecting fixes to be able to offer a big update. how long should this take? and what does this mean for the future?
i stopped playing six weeks ago and since then wait for updates to get back into it, and now i'm completely fed up with it and wish i had refunded.
see, i get that crate isn't a triple-a studio with endless resources, but they asked triple-a money for this and to be honest: the time to excuse such things, with them beeing indie-developers, is long gone after years on steam with one of the main arpgs currently on the market. at least make/keep the port near flawlessly playable. i'm not talking about missing nextgen things here, just fix it and as soon as possible. maybe stop working on this new game until this is fully fixed... that should be self-evident given the price your customers paid.
stay away from this as far as you can. think of it as the new down in the line of crap-ported games like KSP or Space Engineers... full fledged pc games, that won't work on console without a full rework. on top of that: crashes and bugs that can screw your savefiles and guess what? only one quick update. without this one an only update it felt like an early beta port, lacking options.
they really took the pc user interface without any adjustments for console. you can't mouse-hover your buffs and debuffs (well, you can. with inventory open... but don't you dare to use the revolutionary ui-scale option if you want to read something at the same time), pet-stance came as a hotfix, good luck managing the inventory with your mouse-stick and even the size of the ui doesn't work well on tv... oh you can resize that... but there first had to be an update for this (yes, seems that nobody thought of that while "porting" - which is funny, you got that option on pc long time ago). see what we got here: a quick and unreasonable expensive cashgrab.
devs sound like this: "believe us, we will fix it. next week or the week after, but the third week really. we are so sorry, it's all on ms... they need to certify the patch so it could be next month. we small team."
I've been waiting for years for Grim Dawn to come to console as my gaming PC is a low end laptop... Now it's finally on console and it looks and runs worse than on my laptop,, wtf..
It's 720p, very unstable sub **** blurry and **** top of that they are asking above top dollar for the game ,,$90 in my region..
Full price plus, for an unoptimised buggy game with no 1X or SX support...
Yeah I'll pass , getting a refund. 4 years they had to port this game, and this is what we get!!! Just another disappointment..
