In its own way Hellpoint seems like a signature Soulslike, because despite all the mechanics it borrowed from its inspirational series, Cradle Games managed to make an original game. It's a game designed for lovers of the genre, although not for purists, and it has received constant support from the development team so it is expected that future patches will solve the performance problems.
Hellpoint is a dark sci-fi souls-like game that introduces some new features and ideas
in an attempt to differentiate itself from a common dark souls clone. Plenty of glitches
and bugs make it feel rushed and make it look like it’s still in beta. Overall, Hellpoint
has lots of promise, and could have been an amazing game if Cradle Games spent
more time in development.
It's like coffee... It's an acquired taste that can get quite addictive. You just have to pass the first 2 hours. After that, the game has a ton of stuff and features to discover.
Hellpoint is a recommended game, even if not for everyone. If you are not a soulslike fan, spending about twenty hours in a less refined game than a "Souls-Borne" is certainly not a wise choice. If, on the other hand, you are a big fan of the genre, give it a chance as long as you are willing to ignore small but numerous bugs.
Hellpoint is a souls-like action RPG developed by Cradle Games and published by tinyBuild. It is an ambitious title that has incorporated a few great ideas. While the visuals, music, and sound are top-notch, the game does fall short in pacing and combat.
Hellpoint tries to incorporate familiar concepts you've seen from more popular action titles such as the Souls series. Unfortunately, it also adds various ideas that turn it into a jumbled mess. Combined with cryptic presentation of information, confusing level layouts, clunky combat, and abysmally bad platforming mechanics, it's one game that you'll say "Oh, hell no" to.
Awesome Game. Looks great and need not so much System performance. A really good choice if u like Dark Souls and like Sci-fi. And the Bugs all rdy gone. BUY IT!!
Good game, feels like a nice little homage to the original Dark Souls. It has some great ideas with interesting enemy designs. The bosses are fine so far (haven't finished it just yet) and the music is also acceptable. Everything else seems just fine.
Has the ability to be a great game and is truly enjoyable combat and atmosphere wise. The problem is that the game is half baked and nowhere near a full release. You can spend hours grinding only to have the super rare and limited resources/weapons you spent time on just disappear from your inventory leaving you high and dry. Watch out if you are a gun/magic user as a disappearing main gun will leave you without a way to defend yourself and you will have to restart. There are obvious technical issues which arent a big deal as those are easy to patch. Missing currency/materials/weapons with poor hitboxes on certain melee gear, piss poor fast travel (also involves disappearing items that makes it so you can in no way 100% the game) etc are why I give this game a 2. If these issues were fixed I would say a solid 8+ but unfortunately the ability to lure players into an unfinished game only to choke their progress really breaks the experience and is more frustrating than rewarding. Here's hoping the devs can fix the issues quickly because this is a true example of a diamond in the extreme, s**t covered, maggot infested rough.
SummaryHellpoint is an intense action RPG taking place on Irid Novo, a derelict space station soaked in an intoxicating dark sci fi atmosphere. Fight dreadful creatures, face the Cosmic Gods and unravel their twisted story. Should the challenge be too great, play with a friend in local or online coop.
