Once you get past its daunting and archaic systems, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate continuously challenges you with the most thrilling gameplay and rewarding loop few games can match. Meanwhile, veterans will also feel at home - ‘G rank’ awaits you!
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate may lack the smoothness and accessibility that made Monster Hunter: World such a smash hit, but it more than makes up for it by being a sort of ‘greatest hits’ collection of the high points of the series, giving you hundreds of hours of content to play through. Couple this with the HD visuals, easy to use multiplayer, and the ability to play the full experience on the go, and you’ve got a game that will easily appeal to both veterans and newcomers alike. It may not necessarily represent the future of the series, but Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is an utterly fantastic experience in its own right and a worthy follow up to the 3DS original, and one that no Switch owner will want to be without.
Trying MHW but cannot feel the excitement, then trying MHR and still in denial mode about Monster Hunter. Then, stupidly enough, I bought this game while on sale when I know I don't enjoy Monster Hunter but, now it's one of my favorite game OAT.
I got a copy of MHW from my friend, then I tried it but cannot understand what the heck I'm doing in the game. Then, MHR release so I tried the demo bcs people said its better and still I don't understand a thing about what I should do, items management, etc.
When I saw this game on sale, It just kicks me in wanting to try MH again although I know I will dislike it again. This time, I take it slow, I read all the instruction and follow all the tutorials which yeah, it's a lot and took me 5+ hours to finish all that but then it just magic. I love the game.
The problem about people dislike or hate the game is bcs we don't understand or don't want to understand the game at all. For me, although I dislike the game, I want to understand and know why people love MH. So, I humble myself (which I'm usually not because game nowadays spoil us too much with making it easier to access and understand) to fully understand what is MH and now I get it and I'm one of them now.
Yes, MH has lot of things for you to keep an eye out as well as gameplay mechanic to begin with which makes newcomer like me kind of overwhelm (in my case with MHW). But now that I understand the gameplay mechanic and the core loop of the game, it pumps me up to enter MHW after this game and MHR after that.
For you who give this game a bad rating, dislike the game or doubt it, better think about it again to try this game out. This type of game MH, Souls Series, JRPG, and basically every type of game have their specific gameplay mechanic that you need to understand to be able to enjoy it. If you're denying it by ignoring the instruction and didn't give a sht about tutorial, then no doubt you will have a bad time with any game out there.
Yes, game nowadays are design in a better way so player can understand quicker and be good in the game pretty quick as well which is why many people can enjoy MHW and MHR where it's their first MH game. Just want to say that don't give up or put down the game because you cannot understand it, just try to understand, look at the gameplay footage, tutorial and explanation so you can understand the game then you can decide wether you like it or not. Game is fun because you understand the gameplay mechanic and all features in it, not because you just smashing the button.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate brings the majority of the series’ monsters into one package for a lengthy and exciting hunting extravaganza. While it feels dated in some ways post-Monster Hunter: World, it’s a great farewell tour for the old style of the franchise. If you can stomach the pacing problems and obtuse menu systems, it’s a worthwhile and challenging trek through the history of Monster Hunter.
As usual, MHG Ultimate is more than a remastered Monster Hunter Generations. It is a production that, although it is too much of Nintendo 3DS, is ideal for fans. Compared with MH World, you feel a step behind. On the other hand, many fans will appreciate and understand this return as an increase in the hours of fun and hard challenge, with a roster of extras and attractive additions.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is a hard game to recommend. Series veterans and anyone who skipped Generations on the 3DS will find a lot to enjoy, but newcomers to the series, especially those who played World, will struggle to get past the clunky controls and inaccessible design choices. There's a good game here, it's just obscured at times by its 3DS origins, and more often than not feels like a huge step backwards.
Generations Ultimate is a greatest-hits collection that doesn’t go out of the way to re-contextualize why the hits are so great in the first place. While it still provides the thrills that made Monster Hunter huge, it’s hard to argue the series isn’t ready for something else.
While MHGU can be quite challenging at times and offer a vast cast of monsters to face-off against, some of the monsters you include are pretty pathetic. Literally being just a rescaled version of small fry. This makes the early game really painful to play through.
Another thing I don't like in this game is how it constantly makes you travel between village to accept missions, leading to a load screen to accept a reward or a new quest. This gets pretty annoying and repetitive at times. Also, it just has way too much stuff to track while out of a quest. You have tons of cats which individually need to be trained and equipped, and some activities that can be performed by them as well. But undertaking quests as a palico is super fun and satisfying too.
Some quests and micro-management might get boring and repetitive at times but it's still a pretty good Monster Hunter game with a lot of combat options to explore and probably the biggest amount of different monsters in the series so far. The graphics look pretty outdated since this was originally a 3DS game but that didn't bother me.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate… It's a step back in the right direction from World(Not saying World was bad). The content is there and the weapon and armor designs are more unique again with much more variation. That's the good news.
The bad is that it is painfully easy. I’ve resigned myself to never using the hunter arts or the styles(Using Guild style as picking one is forced down your throat) for the simple reason that the arts make the game even easier. The Addition of G-Rank keeps this game higher on difficulty than World.
The weapon stats show modified damages unlike every other game in the series which is annoying. Was something to do with balance...I can't remember the exact details.
Having to level your weapon is also the WORST thing they could have added to Generations. There was nothing wrong with how the weapons were upgraded or showing the unmodified damage numbers so why the hell was it necessary to change it. While it is sorta true that World has the same type of system, World did it much better in that regard.
All in all, while the game is better than World and is a step back in the right direction, it's still not quite what the loyal Monster Hunter fans wanted. (Cough cough Frontier cough cough)
Giving it a 6 since 6.5 is not an option and to be honest, it's mostly because I'm an old Hunter and miss the challenge.
I don't understand how so many people can say how great this game is, compared to Monster Hunter World this Game feels extremely unpolished.
I know this Game has a lot of Content and for me it seems this is the only thing this Game suceeds.
The Graphics are Awful, i'm not a Graphics person but this awful Graphics and only 30 fps?
And why, cause it's a 3ds port and they didn't make any changes on this regard.
And the Gameplay feels extremely awful compared to Monster Hunter Worlds where it's a lot of fun to Fight.
And i know a lot of people like this about Monster Hunter but after only 1 Hour of playing the Game throws at me way to hard Monsters for a rather bad player like me, why isn't there something like increase in the Monster strength so new players like me can learn how to play this unique Game.
If u want to play Monster Hunter and ur not Familiar with the Game start with Worlds, it is really doing a lot of things better than previous entries.
