    Great expansion, whose central motif is one sophisticated storyline. The only minus is worse a weaker side quest line and absence of references to the original game and its main storyline. [Issue#258]

    The best aspect of this DLC is its unique way to wander far from what The Witcher 3 got us used to in terms of narration. If you loved the original game, you shouldn't miss this expansion.

    Hearts of Stone can be considered as a good way to meet Geralt again. This expansion drags us into a captivating story with fascinating characters. Even though its difficulty is far from perfectly set and some additions (runewords particularly) don't feel very useful, it's a pleasure to be able to ride with Geralt to some new locations and accomplish a few more new side quests.

We have known for several months what this expansion entails and so it makes no sense to criticize it for "oh it doesn't have an extra map and this is more of the same." What does that even mean? Every expansion from every game is more of the same.

    Hearts of Stone has everything you want in any continuation of Geralt's story. It's wonderfully paced and takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Remarkable work CD Projekt.    … Expand

It carries all the advantages of main game, especially strong story with hard and impactful choices, both more intensive than in main game, some choices are really hard and emotional. HoS also improves upon some things, with the biggest difference in combat, especially boss fights that are now much more challenging and exciting than in a base game. It also adds a bit more variety to gameplay. Very good, this is something you think about days or even weeks after finishing the game.… Expand

    The story starts off very slowly and didn't actually engage me until quite later, mind you the base Wild Hunt game needed to get out of White Orchard before it captured my attention fully.

    It's more of the same with a tighter storyline as the assumption is most players will have finished the original so can just attack the main quest here and explode the new area which isn't huge.

    Lastly the bosses were not hard or frustrating despite what some might claim, yes they're harder bosses than the Wild Hunt but those were the weakest spectre riders ever.

    You'll know if this expansion is your thing if you've played the base game!    … Expand
