Warframe's daunting complexity doesn't detract from its delicious combat and flexible progression.

Play Warframe. Play it for more than a few hours, preferably with friends, and keep an open mind into doing some third-party research to straighten out some of these systems. Warframe takes so much of what makes ARPG’s addictive, and rounds it out with more polish and depth than most its competitors on the current games market. If the hooks aren’t deeply embedded by then, maybe something this in-depth isn’t for you.

Digital Extremes has created something that's often genuinely fun to play, and given the cost of entry, Warframe's well worth a try if you're in the mood for something different.

Warframe isn't anything special. It's not revolutionary, exceptional or timeless. Still - every time I returned to the game, it kept playing for at least an hour (without regret). Digital Extremes has made an enjoyable, engrossing, spectacular game. Especially, when you find yourself a team or - even better - invite some friends. If you need a new opportunity to slaughter aliens, you should try Warframe.

Some problematic menus pale in comparison to Warframe's real problem: a pervasive tendency toward repetition.

The combat is smooth and fast paced and it can easily be single player or co-op. People only dislike it because it repeats the maps but with different doors. The only thing that could top that would be the inclusion of Space Pirates but then I wouldn't be able to hear anything else over the sound of the game's interstellar awesomeness. Warframe is a great shooter made by a company that has a long legacy of action games. Shooter skills and platformer style moves allow you to run on walls, jump chasms, and lay into the enemy with everything from heave repeater laser guns to swords... The weaponry in the game is truly awesome and every Warframe is fun to play with it's own individual mix of powers and stats. It's free to play and everything in the game can acquired, with the only limitations being time to get it and how many active weapons/warframes you can own at any one time. A minor investment in the game though ($20) gives you enough coin to unlock a huge garage ready to stock with every warframe in the game and several dozen various weapons. It is well worth the cost if you like a lot of variety and is the only real limitation of the free game. It's a blast to play with friends or just in "online-instant-group" mode. Two thumbs up. Warframe is a constantly evolving game with new things added frequently.
The fairest pay model I have ever seen. EVERYTHING but cosmetics can be acquired through normal gameplay, and cosmetics that cannot be acquired through normal gameplay can be acquired by selling materials or blueprints you do not need for the premium currency.

However, Warframe still has yet to polish its new player experience, which holds the game back. A proper intro and tutorial are needed badly for any future expansion of its playerbase. As of now, getting started is the most difficult part of Warframe.

Forewarning this game is still in Open Beta expect bugs.

    I've played about 50 hours.

The premise is this game is very interesting, you are an assassin that can wear different suits known as "Warframes". These are essentially the different characters that you can play through the game. The gameplay is PvE which resembles Mass Effect 3 multiplayer with Crysis style suits and Diablo style loot drops. Weapons and Warframes in this game can be bought with cash, in game currency, or built. Most weapons and Warframes can be made simply by farming the necessary resources. The progression of the game starts out quite slow as the grind to acquire materials and blueprints get quite tedious.

Warframe has severe balancing issues regarding the warframes themselves. Some warframes lack utility, while others are overpowered. Weapons also suffer from this same fate. Warframe introduces Mods to weapons, similar to perks in Call of Duty. Mods are also affected by a balance issue.

Bugs are quite apparent in gameplay and level design, which is to be expected from an open beta game. Warframe still has a lot of kinks which need to be ironed out before it can be a worthy title.

This game is supported through the purchase of platinum with can be used to purchase warframes and weapons. 75 platinum costs $5 USD, which cannot even cover costly warframes at 325 platinum. A warframe like Rhino for example would cost a ridiculous $20 USD! Platinum prices are too high, and are not competitive enough. I for one will not dump my money into something which rewards with so little value.

Overall the PvE is not compelling enough and lacks incentive to progress further into the game. Warframes are a hit and miss with some being fun, while others are utterly boring. Warframe does have potential, but expect a long road ahead.

    Final score 6.5/10
