Perhaps it took a move to the home consoles and a years-delayed retouch, but God Eater Resurrection shines as a less demanding, flashier alternative to the likes of Monster Hunter.

It won't wow you with innovation, but it'll sate your monster-hunting urges, and it should, hopefully, get you a little psyched for the sequel, God Eater 2, coming out in North America later this summer. Don't expect too much, and you should be pleasantly surprised.

However I REALLY loved that game and just like any psp games, its real flaw was the missing second analogue stick.

Well, resurrection does this correctly thanks to the VITA, and not only that: it's a MUCH smoother, refined and overall better version of the psp game and considering that you get this game with god eater 2 included (At least that's how I got it: i still haven't played the second), it's already worth its price.

Let's take out the common stuff: this game is obviously inspired from Monster Hunter, and I do mean inspired because big weapons, big monster in small areas where you gotta play in teams. The main differences are several however: the game has a story to follow, the combat is more fast paced and requires you to move a lot, the crafting is still there but is much less grindy in comparison (not saying that it isn't), and overall it feels more like a proper action game, despite your character carries a "big ass sword".

In addition the game is much more lenient: you can always bring 3 companions with you guided by the AI - which makes things a TON easier - and you don't instantly die because they can "ress" you. They also added more weapon types (from 3 swords and 3 guns to 6 swords and 4 guns) and a bit more of customization to your character, as well as your companions being able to learn skills that improve their performances. And one thing that I ALWAYS wanted: the number meters on the enemy. Now I can finally see how much damage I'm doing (I don't think it was on the original, so I might be wrong).

In all honesty this game is good because it does many things right that it's hard to see flaws: thanks to the VITA the controls are incredibly good and highly customizable, something that even Monster Hunter couldn't do because of the lack of second stick on the 3ds (unless you buy a new 3ds or the add-on...) and the gameplay is just fun and fast paced - not to devil may cry level but still good. And considering there's a pretty fascinating and interesting story . with also good lore, in my opinion - this game can please pretty much anyone. Oh and the anime style will definitely please those anime fans (I'm quite the opposite, but I do love the anime style on this game).

And for a pretty cheap price, what's not to like?

PS: skip if if you don't like these kind of games though.

I think im in love with this game. For only 20 bucks and a full 3 GB file size for hours and hours of content? its DEFINITELY worth the buy,I think im in love with this game. For only 20 bucks and a full 3 GB file size for hours and hours of content? its DEFINITELY worth the buy, especially if you're a fan of those monster hunter games AND anime. Just stop reading and go buy it like right now. Normally games like this would sell for a full 39.99 but since this is a enhanced version of the PSP version, that would explain the price. Im also surprised the PS4 version is the same price too.... hell if you buy both copies you can cross-save between them but im mostly "on the go" for these kind of things and could care less about "shiny new graphics".

Story - The Other guy got it for you, blakfayt. But he forget to mention that there is a TON of lore that you can find in the terminal in game further detailing the God Eater universe.

Gameplay - Its like Monster Hunter combat but a lot more fluid in how you fight. It really only takes you like 5-10 minutes to kill something here while in monster hunter the combat is more slower and can take up the full 30 minutes becuase the areas are broken down in sections while the entire area in god eater is broken down in sections too but its all together in one big map, so you will never have to make any transactions to chase down a wounded monster.
Hey at least they bothered to dub this game blakfayt, unlike the majority of vita japanese ports that only have english sub and no english dub.

Sound - ok.... but sometimes the music is so loud you can barely hear the people talking. Im sure there is an option to turn that down there somewhere....

    Pros -
Fast Paced Combat for a monster hunter type game
    Hundreds of customization options.
    Guns, Cannons, Shotguns, Sniper rifles!
Good story, especially for those into anime.
Graphics are solid for a vita.
100 hours of content for this cheap price.

Cons (not really for me) -
No Japanese Dub, that might turn down some people.
The game is heavily influenced as an anime type game, might turn down some people.
Sound can sometimes be rather annoying
Only 6 type of weapons and 4 types of guns, might turn down some people.

That's all. Oh and there is a God Eater anime that's 13 episodes long... idk if its any good or not though.

God Eater Resurrection is an enhanced version of Gods Eater Burst which came out on the PSP towards the middle-end of its life cycle, inGod Eater Resurrection is an enhanced version of Gods Eater Burst which came out on the PSP towards the middle-end of its life cycle, in America at least. The story follows your custom character who becomes a warrior called a "New Type" in a post apocalyptic world that was ruined by monsters called Aragami. Aragami appeared one day and started absorbing creatures, buildings, and weapons, mutating their bodies into those things. Humans were unable to fight back as the Aragami cellular structure was impervious to contemporary weapons. That's where the god eaters came in, humans that were compatible with an armlet that lets you damage the giant monsters with your giant sword that is made from giant monster material.

God Eater is a Monster Hunter type game, but with massive improvements to things like drop rate and controls. The game is smooth and looks amazing in a very typical anime style. So the question you have to ask yourself is, "Does the idea of Monster Hunter, killing giant creatures with cool designs for their parts to enhance my own weapons, sound fun, but Monster Hunter itself wasn't amazing?" Then try God Eater. It's only $20 on Vita or you get it for free if you pre order the PS4 version of God Eater 2 Rage Burst (coming out in August).

This is a game that I dumped over 100 hours into on the PSP and the vita Resurrection version has new weapons, new mechanics, new monsters, and new mission types. I am already thoroughly prepared to pour another 100 hours into this version and a further 100 hours into the sequel.

The only detractor that some might find is that there is no dual audio, so if you want the Japanese voices you're outta luck. However, there's an option to turn voices down so you don't have to hear them. Though the voices, in my opinion, are vastly improved from the original game and the voice actors are pretty top notch folk in the industry. The plot ends up pretty much anime, so if you like anime you won't be disappointed, but don't expect any Hollywood movie story line.

The combat is fast, responsive, there are 6 melee weapons, 4 or 5 guns, and dozens of monster types to kill. Unlike Monster Hunter where a hunt can take between 10 and 30 minutes a seasoned player can clear a mission of 4 monsters in about 10 minutes, tops. Rarely have I spent more than 5 minutes hunting something, which makes the game fantastic on the Vita.

Game graphics are quite simple but definitely well looking. I quite liked GE`s gameplay, combat was fast and dynamic. The only problem was that the game has become pretty repetitive from some point. There is quite interesting crafting system and the game difficulty is alright - you can progress quite smoothly (especially if you play online). First part of story is very good and definitely interesting. Rest is unfortunately very slow, repetitive and not so good as first part. There are even some minor graphic flaws like walking through another characters or big weapons going through floor sometimes. It is not very big deal but that could have been done better. Anyway GE Resurrection is quite successful game and especially fan of monster hunting games will find here what they expect. It is definitely one of the better games for PS VITA.
