The Switch release plays just as smoothly as any modern game. No frame drops are present and it works beautifully in handheld mode. While there is no new content with this release, it still feels right at home on the Switch. If you’ve played Bastion in the past or if you’ve missed out on the previous releases, I wholeheartedly recommend Bastion for anyone looking for a fantastic action RPG.

Simply put, Bastion is an indie masterwork. It fits right at home on the Nintendo Switch, being exactly the type of game suitable for mobile play. The gameplay’s simplistic nature makes it an easy game to hop in and out of on the go. And the optional challenges highlight the game’s thrilling and addictive combat, making it easy to come back to over and over again. My only regret is that I didn’t acknowledge this game sooner. Any gripes I might have towards Bastion seem nitpicky at this point. Seven years ago, Supergiant Games delivered a solid action RPG title. Now, it gets another chance to bask in the sun thanks to the Nintendo Switch.

Bastion is an unforgettable and enjoyable piece of software that stands as a strong example of how games can also be perceived as art. A charismatic narrator, beautiful visuals, intense action gameplay and heavy character customization make this a fairytale that you’ll want to dive into again and again, and while the isometric view sometimes gets in the way of the gameplay, the other aspects of Bastion more than make up for this slight misstep. We’d highly recommend you give Bastion a try if you haven’t played it elsewhere already; though this Switch port brings nothing new to the table, Bastion is a memorable modern classic that is an absolute must-play.

Bastion is a thrilling action RPG. Supergiant Games' fans will love it, but it's definitely for those who want a story with incredible music, fascinating characters and incredible gameplay.

Bastion is an involving and accessible adventure that brings its original successful formula back into play, this time on the Nintendo Switch. With a marvelous art style, an intuitive gameplay and a very appealing narration technique, Bastion is without a doubt a game that everyone should try.

It’s great to finally see Supergiant Games bring some of their great work over to a Nintendo platform and Bastion easily ranks among the best. From its eye-catching presentation to the mysterious story to the challenging but satisfying combat Bastion is an emotionally fascinating journey from start to finish and one well worth venturing.

Its artistic style and the gameplay are still Bastion's two bastions for Nintendo Switch. In spite of not having additions, the portability of Switch fits perfectly. The story and its narration, as well as that progressive difficulty, make of Bastion a wonderful timeless title.

Along with the near godly soundtrack and the plethora of challenges ahead of you, this game is sure to be unforgettable.

However I must give this game a 10 for this reason. While Bastion practically basks in the spotlight of one of the best indie games ever made, it also paved the road for two other games I would consider to be even more phenomenal, the other two masterpieces by Supergiant Games, Transistor and Pyre. Without Bastions success these games may have never been made, and that alone makes Bastion a legendary title.

I've beaten it previously when it first launched on iOS but I really preferred the play through on my switch. To me, it felt much better with a controller!

The gameplay of Bastion is quick and satisfying with weapons that allow you to mix things up. I really enjoyed the focus on your weapons with progression and challenges being great! The base game can be on the easier side, however, there are ways to change this. Aside from the native difficulty settings you can also use New Game+ and the Shrine system to add more challenges for those who need it.

Graphically the game is still gorgeous with a dream-like atmosphere that contributes nicely to the story and overall feel of the game. The narrator is one of my faves from a game and is implemented in a way that is not obtrusive or annoying. The soundtrack is A+ I personally really enjoyed the story, it's not anything crazy or groundbreaking but it fits nicely with the way the game formats it.

Totally recommend, especially if you can snag it on sale!

I like the *mode* of storytelling, but the story itself is not that great (at least to me), and the gameplay is not Hades either. AnyoneI like the *mode* of storytelling, but the story itself is not that great (at least to me), and the gameplay is not Hades either. Anyone looking into Supergiant games should play Bastion before Hades, because you'll just keep comparing those two in your mind and Hades will make Bastion look like a... well, a decent game with decent music and interesting storytelling. The gameplay itself is OK, because it is not too hard or complicated, and flows well. It's nice that the levels are not too long and the combat is not too difficult, because the story is the focus and that's a change of pace, I guess. The art style/graphics are also not bad. However, all in all, I did not see why the game got such overwhelming praise. I guess people feel for it what I do for Hades. Expand

I’m halfway through the game, and I’m not sure if I want to finish it. It’s just meh. The game-play is fine but nothing special. The narratorI’m halfway through the game, and I’m not sure if I want to finish it. It’s just meh. The game-play is fine but nothing special. The narrator is kind of annoying with his “I’m so cool” vibe. He’s talking about the different races and events from the past like it’s some kind of epic lore but it’s not. The game is in dire need of a good introductory cut-scene to hook you in. Something to make you care about the story. There’s just nothing. Expand
