This is the sort of game that people buy a new console for. It’s just that good. Sunset Overdrive celebrates the things that set us apart as gamers, and it draws strength from those differences. It never loses sight of the fact that fun trumps all in this sort of escapist fantasy.

Insomniac Games have just given a masterclass in taking a tried and tested game genre and making it feel fresh and fun.

Sunset Overdrive is a fun and well crafted free roaming. Insomniac played it a bit too safe and their game isn't able to deliver on all of its excellent promises.

Sunset Overdrive is a very nervous game with colorful graphics, which offers a mix between Jet Set radio and Crackdown. In spite of very repetitive sequences, the length of the game makes it quite a good investment.

Insomniac Games has crafted an excellent game in Sunset Overdrive. It's not without a few niggling issues, but you'll be too busy enjoying yourself to care. You can compare it to games like Crackdown, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and Ratchet and Clank, but by combining the best elements of those games into a single package and injecting it with an anything goes, rock and roll attitude, you'll never think of it as anything but a singular achievement that stands tall on its own merits.

Sunset Overdrive has some excellent ideas, but its triumphs are sadly suffocated beneath ultra-repetitive mission design and unsatisfying enemy encounters.

Don't listen to the negative reviews, odds are they are Sony fan boys who wanna hate because this game isn't on their system. I have playedDon't listen to the negative reviews, odds are they are Sony fan boys who wanna hate because this game isn't on their system. I have played about 11 hours so far and have had a blast! This is truly the first real next gen game to come out, and a fun one at that. The multiplayer could use more modes and be more linear, but the story and main mode that is offered. There is so much to do and see and also collect that this should keep you entertained for weeks and months, I highly recommend this game to anyone that is looking to have fun and blow stuff up. It may seem like such a dumb thing, but it's been a long time since I've truly been able to enjoy going from point A to point B so much in a game. People get wrapped up in finishing objective after objective in games, but with Sunset Overdrive you just get lost in the movement. Sure, it's possible to fast travel to a spot much closer to the objective to save time, but more often than not I found myself taking my time, grinding and jumping to my objective, stopping to kill the occasional group of baddies here and there, and generally making sure to stop and smell the roses. It is very easy to get lost in this game (in a good way).

All that being said, the music is great (not what I would listen to normally, but fits the game very well), the graphical style is excellent, the weapons are hilarious and enjoyable, and there is PLENTY of content available to those looking. Sure, the humor can be childish at times, but maybe that's my cup of tea. I personally found myself laughing at nearly all of the dialog throughout the entire game.

Note that I'm giving this game a 10 without ever touching the multiplayer. Even if the multiplayer is absolutely awful, it won't tarnish my view of the single player campaign and how much I enjoyed it.

Go buy this game, you won't regret it.

While it can be too crazy for some folk, this game is hilarious and a nonstop joy to play. Like others are saying, do not listen to the negative reviews. This game is impossible to rate badly upon as they did everything nearly perfect. (I actually reported the guy who gave it a 0/10) My only gripe with this game is that not everyone will be able to enjoy this game due to it being xbox one exclusive. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Personally, I wasn't too hyped about sunset overdrive. Nevertheless, on day one, I picked the game up. I really enjoyed the games campaign which I completed in roughly 11 hours (Yes, I was a noob). After the campaign I thought there wouldn't be a lot to do, but I can tell you, I was wrong. I really enjoyed doing all the quests after and each was different and diverse. I done a quest about collecting comics, where the person you was doing the quest for, was making a comic up about you. I thought that was really cool. I also enjoyed the humour of the game and found myself laughing quite frequently. The game also has so much content with all the weird and wacky weapons, overdrives (which are essentially perks), amps (perks, different than overdrives) and also things such as collecting essentials to make amps. Toilet paper, fizzie balloons, shoes just to name a few. The exciting thing is Insomniac are going to be adding more DLC so you're never going to get bored (who gets bored of killing zombies, anyway?!) My only negative of the game would be some of the missions in the campaign seem to drag on. Especially when trying to find the propeller, to what you think, you're going to escape the city. All in all Sunset Overdrive is an amazing game, heaps of fun and I would recommend to most, If not all, Xbox one owners. Expand
