The album is drenched in the cosmic swirl of warm synths and dreamy atmospherics. [Dec 2017, p.106]

1982 appears slight on first glance, but it’s packed with so many lasting melodies and shifts in tone and dynamics that it winds up being a much richer project than its 38-minute run time may initially suggest.

There is always a weight, a purpose anchoring Liima's sound and keeping it from devolving into a frenzy of meaningless loops and mania. 1982 is form, feeling, and worldbuilding all in one well-polished package, and makes for a solid sophomore release.

The robust rhythm battery of Rönkkö and bassist Rasmus Stolberg really propels 1982 forward and adds a great deal to their bigger picture. An improvement on their debut, this release solidifies Liima as a band.

Although the album's emphasis is on electronica--some of which is distinctly Balearic--these characteristically hymnal songs suggest fluid boundaries between each entity. [Dec 2017, p.90]
