    There is a reason this is the most awarded pop album in history. Taylor manages to put together a beautiful collection of pop perfection. Entertaining and fresh sounding, with the exception of bad blood and how you get the girl, any one of the songs could be a single/hit.

    Taylor's first pop album is a perfect example of adaptation. She does not lose the control of the sound in any moment of the entire project. This is one of the most cohesive albums I've ever heard. Maybe, what I loved the less, is the sometimes commercial sound that it has.

    Honestly, for some reason I always thought this was a bad album, labeling it as such because if a few songs in this album I really didn’t like. Upon listening to this album further, I actually really liked Welcome To New York and Shake It Off, though I still wasn’t crazy about Blank Space (I still found that track mildly offensive). I was delighted to find that there are, in fact, a lot of really good and catchy songs in 1989. Swift’s lyric writing is still top notch, and none of her musicality is lost when transitioning to more poppy and technological territory. I’m not a big fan of techno, but Taylor Swift incorporates the synths and electronic drums into her songs so well and so uniquely that it makes it still fun to listen to, even if it could be considered a step backwards from her country/rock-ish stuff in her previous work. My only beef with 1989 was that This Love was just kinda bland musically and that the riff in Clean resembled very closely two U2 songs that I really like. Clean wasn’t necessarily a bad song, but it was odd how close it sounded to those other songs. That being said, 1989 is a really good album and Taylor Swift fans will love it. Highlights: Welcome To New York, Style, All You Had To Do Was Stay, I Wish You Would, Bad Blood, Wildest Dreams, How You Get The Girl, Wonderland, and New Romantics.    … Expand

    1989 Sets Swift as a major pop-star. Everything inside the record feels perfectly crafted , and has Antonoff's mark all over it's production. The result?, a solid record that rebuilt pop music with almost none contemporary references. 1989 is the beginning of Pop-Taylor. Same storytelling mixed with the best production the pop genre has seen in a while .

Tem boas músicas mas vai de uma forma bem decrescente de qualidade, parece que ela ficou tanto tempo trabalhando pelas 16 músicas que quando chegou no finalzinho, a preguiça falou mais alto e ela jogou o que deu. 'Blank Space', 'Out of the Woods', 'Wildest Dream' são faixas que ilustram bem essa fase da Taylor.

    In this album we can see that Pop is not just scandals, meat dressing, being ridiculous, being naked, it has good songs, a lot of them with a great meaning like This Love, other songs were hits that are going to be remembered to the eternity

    1989 is her most mainstream album to date. a vintage fun 80's pop touched with pleasing aesthetics that makes it her brightest and most successful album with mega hits like Blank Space and Shake It Off. it's a sarcastic nod to her haters while her daring masterpieces like Wildest Dreams and Style brings out her pop-style in a perfectionist way

Sonically, '1989' is very different than anything Taylor Swift has ever done, but when you stay faithful to your soul and your core, nothing you do will upset people. Her first 'official documented pop album' is just perfection made by the combination of catchy tunes, deep lyrics (as usual), great vocal performance, and confidence/sass kinda attitude. Here is every single track reviewed:
    1. Welcome to New York: This song, done with Ryan Tedder, serves its purpose with brilliance: Introducing Swift's most-sonically challenging album. Great track and New York Anthem.
    2. Blank Space: The first highlight of the album, produced by hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback, and written by Swift, this song offers everything there is: Love, Fun, Confidence, Dismissing what people say. EVERYTHING I tell ya!
    3. Style.: Another amazing song from amazing Mrs. Swift. I think what really shines on here are the reaaaally good lyrics (You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye/ And I got that red lip classic thing that you like.)
    4. Out of the Woods: The first promo single of the album, produced by Antonoff, sees Swift at her most experimental and adventurous yet. Really good song.
    5. All You Had To Do Was Stay: The verse emerges reminiscent of the Speak Now & Fearless eras (Lyrically speaking) and then the chorus hits and the world is slayed. I think what rings the most is the epic "Stay!"
    6. Shake It Off: Okay, if you still haven't heard this song, you must be living on Mars or something. A great haters-gonna-hate anthem, wisely chosen as the lead single.
    7. I Wish You Would: If you didn't like this track from the first listen, that's okay, I didn't either. But it really grew on me and realized the chorus is the most insane thing Taylor has ever done.
    8. Bad Blood: If it really is about Katy Perry, then I got bad news for her: Katy Perry, you are (unfortunately) very burned. Lyrically strong and great production. I mean, have you heard those beats?
    9. Wildest Dreams: Lana Del Rey, is that you? Taylor attempts a Lana-type-of-song, and she absolutely nails it. My second favourite off the album, after 'Blank Space'. Breathy vocals and production and dark lyrics, way to go!
    10. How You Get The Girl: The only song on '1989' that is not as memorable as the others. It's still good though, with typical Swift-lyrics, such as 'I want you for worse or for better/ I would wait forever and ever'.
    11. This Love: Written by Swift alone, this song is so much reminiscent of the Speak Now era, except it's pop. Breathy, dark and calm, this song is absolutely beautiful!
    12. I Know Places: The darkest song on the record. The lyrics hit too much, and the melodies will just sweep you off. Great attempt at change, Tay (especially with the 'They are the hunters, we are the foxes, and we run' line)!
    13. Clean: You like 'All Too Well'? Well this song is the closest to it on the record. Emotionally charged, this song serves as the perfect closer.

    Remember when Lorde said that Taylor is a "perfectionist"? Well, she wasn't wrong, folks! Great album Taylor. (Hoping you'd go country again for your 2016 release). This album proves that Mrs. Swift still has a long career ahead of her. 10/10.    … Expand

    pop perfection. I was just figuring music when this dropped, and make me instantly stan the genre pop. beautiful production, beautiful songs, but by far the less personal album from Taylor in my opinion.

    19898 is a very good awesome pop album. In this album you understand what pop music is. Also by listening to the songs one by one you feel like you’re in a journey; you laugh, you cry, you smile and etc.. every song has its own massage and every single one is wonderful! I’m forever grateful i lived to the day i listened to this album in. Stream 1989.

    With 1989 she has succeeded in leveraging the most cordial and familiar of pop music outpourings to something that feels like a statement, a work of note and the sinew of some kind of emotional connective tissue–binding tastemakers, rock critics, guys I work with and my 12 year old cousin; irrevocably and unexpectedly.
