  1. 23rd Street Lullaby is a wise, grown-up record, yet it is guided by an untamed, wily heart.
  2. There's an inviting, appealing earnestness to Scialfa's bruised-soul folk rock. [18 Jun 2004, p.85]
  3. A sweeter, more confident effort. [8-22 Jul 2004, p.124]
  4. Like a quieter, more thoughtful Sheryl Crow, Scialfa is a daughter of the city and her charms reveal themselves slowly. [Jul 2004, p.122]
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 2 out of 2
  2. Mixed: 0 out of 2
  3. Negative: 0 out of 2

I've been a fan of Patti's since "Rumble Doll" and I'm ecstatic about this CD. This album grows and grows on you - - despite some awkward turns of phrase and slight flaws, Patti's sweet, interesting voice and sexy-but-earthy delivery make for a beautiful, sensual, lovely listening experience.
