A really good piece of music here. Sound of Silver is still better than in in 9 out of 10 ways, but that's just because that album is incredible. To clarify a complaint mentioned below, this was released before the second LP, so it really contains what was a very exiting preview for "Someone Great" when it first came out. I agree with Joe E that there's some discrepancy with A really good piece of music here. Sound of Silver is still better than in in 9 out of 10 ways, but that's just because that album is incredible. I agree with Joe E that there's some discrepancy with regard to the timing of this on digital release in contrast to the way In Rainbows was handled on this site, but eh, it's not such a big deal. LCD fans and runners alike should check this out. Expand

This is a great album (track?), but it is not a 2007 album, it came out in 2006 on iTunes. If the new Radiohead album, which is thus far digital-only, is included in the 2007 list, this one should be included in the 2006 list.

I agree with Roger--James Murphy is moving music along faster and better than any artist out there in my opinion. Jack White may be making a bit better music but garage rock can't last forever. Murphy's work suggests he's leaving our planet to get new material.

With this, the Fabriclive mix, the fantastic album and the even better live shows James Murphy was hands down man of the year in 2007.

Totally entertaining, always moving and a very slick composition from Mr James Murphy. Imagine being commissioned by the very deep pockets of the Nike enterprise to remix your own music! Light up...Goof-out...and get paid.. QED.

This is the future and this is NOW!!!!! Did you know this guy turned down being a writer for Sienfeld because he wanted to start his own band. Wow, I am blown away. What music is going to become.

Just a heads up for Tim T and anyone who thinks that this album copied Someone Great, if you actually checked the release dates you would see that it was actually released before Sound of Silver so it didn't really just recycle it. Plus the rest of the album is good and provides a solid beat for when you are running.

  1. It is an expertly crafted and detailed work which accomplishes total immersion in the listener. [Review of UK release]
  2. 45:33 deftly segues from the smooth funk favored by Levan to synth-pop and Talking Heads-style polyrhythms before opening into serious space-party territory.
  3. LCD Soundsystem's many fans will want this principally for the bonus tracks but will probably already have the rest of 45:33.
