This is a great collection for fans of White's work and definitely more or an anthology rather than a best of. The acoustic (ish) element really showcases the "to the point" side of his songwriting talent. It's a comprehensive yet engaging listen from a true giant of rock n roll.

Music never tasted so good, music never tasted so good, music never tasted so good to me... what an album. A compilation of great songs, in their simplest version. Impossible not to love. In-temporal Sounds and lyrics from the guts of a genius.

This collection of Acoustic and Alternate versions of Jack White's songs spanning across his entire career proves that He is a master at doing what He does. Not one song feels out of place or unfinished. Any fan of Jack White should definitely check out this compilation. It is wonderful.

The folky reworking off The Raconteurs' Caroline Drama is an improvement on the original and the stark version of Love Is The Truth, originally written for a coke ad, outweighs the bombast of the released version. [Nov 2016, p.117]

For now, as a clue, we have this album of nuances, a revue of a career, where the delight is consistently in the details, some of them random, and others masterfully intentional.

Acoustic Recordings is a selective, rather than exhaustive, portrait of White as an artist, but for a guy who’s spent most of the 18 years this compilation spans dogmatically adhering to self-imposed restrictions, there’s a remarkable amount of diversity here--and not a clunker to be found.
