Nov 15, 2021I don’t understand the hype around this debut album, it’s very mediocre. Some tracks are really good, most are fillers. I love Anderson Paak, but I expected more. It’s a bad move to form a band with a mainstream singer, Anderson music is so good by itself.

Nov 23, 2021Clocking in at nine tracks and 31 minutes, Mars and Paak are in and out, delivering their best impression of ’70s funk, soul and R&B — albeit each track is so spit polished and clean, it noticeably lacks the raw charm of the original. But that in no way means An Evening With Silk Sonic doesn’t have its merits.

Nov 22, 2021It’s not cynical and calculated enough to be a shameless cash-grab yet it’s not self-indulgent enough to be a vanity project. Perhaps it’s just a stopgap in the catalogues of two big-selling artists; an intended homage to the music that made Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. They’re making this music because they like it, because they want to, and because they can.

Nov 19, 2021Yes, it’s all cheesy as a vat of fondue. But it’s also a lot of fun.
