What Apollo Sunshine may lack in cohesion, it more than makes up for in spirit. [Nov 2005, p.218]

Traversing this much musical terrain without a hitch is reason to believe it's showtime for the Apollo. [#69, p.86]
  3. The band parlays its tuneful edification into an experimental collage, bouncing between art school rock, guitar-heavy psychedelia and keyboard hippiedom, yet interconnected by lyrics that are both shrewd and satisfying.
  4. There are great stand-alone songs here, like the 1960s-at-78-rpm sugar rush of "Eyes", but Apollo Sunshine is best listened to in a full dose and appreciated in all its messy glory.
  5. While their recorded output has still not quite caught up to their prowess as a live band, that moment is likely right around the corner; in the meantime, this album is more than good enough to make that wait worthwhile.
  6. But it's in the repeated listens that Apollo Sunshine begins to slip into place. Once the ear is ready for the stylistic differences, you can put aside your surprise and start listening for the individual pieces, and that's where the magic of the band continues to show itself.

Not even the best local Boston band. I cannot explain to you how confused I am that people actually enjoy their music.
