  1. In short, a few stray hiccups only gives a listener more reason to be excited for the next release.

Away from the World is a bit of a rare thing: a return to form lacking an ounce of nostalgia.

Fans will already know that this is a strong, alert Dave album, as Dave albums go. [Aug 2013, p.86]

DMB return to the crunchy arena-skronk of their peak. [14/21 Sep 2012, p. 141]

[Away From the World] serves up the Matthews magic in all its musically tight, emotionally bumfuzzled splendor.

Though Matthews occasionally splashes around in shallow lyrics, the band overall cooks, fleshing out these tunes in an integral way.

The instrumentation throughout is flawless, with careful guitar, exacting percussion, and funky violin swirls all blending into that signature Dave Matthews Band sound.

20 years of sound combined for a really nice addition to the DMB catalog. Dave sings about love, his relationship with his fan base and the current state of the world in his eyes. The music behind the words is ambitious hitting multiple genres sometimes even on the same song. The only thing missing is Leroi Moore. Expand

It´s more of the same... and in DMB´s case.... more of the same is always pretty damn good. i didn´t get the deluxe edition so i haven´t had the possibility to listen to the other tracks... even so, the album deliver what was promised - eleven tracks of rock/folk and somewhat jazzy tunes. DMB you did it again :) Expand
