  1. Clapton's vocals here extend the feeling of renewed energy and direction he revealed on the Robert Johnson album, exhibiting gospel fervor and silky soulfulness throughout. [4 Sep 2005]
  2. A couple of indiscretions taint the disc, but hey, nobody's perfect.
  3. 60
Clapton's playing is still fluid. [Oct 2005, p.98]
  4. When he desists from inserting solos in the middle of otherwise palatable songs, his work can be engaging, even moving. [Oct 2005, p.115]
  5. Alas, if you're looking for Slowhand to ignite the pyrotechnics, forget it.
  6. [An] overblown and underwhelming batch of MOR gruel. [2 Sep 2005, p.81]
  7. Yet heartfelt as his sentiments may be, the songs are a letdown: there's neither angst nor exaltation, just tidiness. [29 Aug 2005]
  8. Heartfelt? Yes. But who would have ever thought Eric Clapton's music could become so disposable?
  9. 30
A dozen songs of unremitting blandness by a man with absolutely nothing left to say. [Oct 2005, p.96]
  10. Back Home embodies the featureless, sickeningly pleasant sounds piped unmercifully into department-store elevators. [Oct/Nov 2005, p.121]

C'est un très bon album. Des bonnes compositions comme So tired, Say what you will, Revolution et des chansons plus douces comme Run home to me ou Back home.

I would say Eric Clapton is my all time favourite artist, and definately my favourite blues musician along with John Lee Hooker, however, I feel his new material on this album feeds too much from his domestic life. His previous work proves he has opinions. Maybe he's just running dry on things to say these days. Oh well. The guitar playing is still sharp, though. The only song I felt that stood out was "piece of my heart". It is the only song I will remember from this album in a years time. CLAPTON IS GOD *wee dog* Full Review »

Bought it knowing that he's been on the decline for years. Listened to first couple tracks. Baby noises as music? How precious. Tossed it in the trash. Full Review »
