The slickness of Garbage just covers up their mediocrity, and bad songwriting. As slick as Garbage had become, there were problems of mediocrity and lower than expected talent in some of the songs. The fault lies in the over saturation of music genres and eras rather than one cohesive marketable sound. If it had been more radio friendly this could have been a Blondie album for the 21st century.
