Expand

This album by Ciara is ok. She has been in the music industry for years so I would expect better songs and vocal range, even though her voice is not a powerhouse like Beyonce's. This album seems like a teenage pop girl album instead of a veteran in the game. She is independent but expected better. And for her fans to say this album is great is delusional. A great album explores vocal performances and pushes the personal boundaries of the artist. This album is safe. Expand

This album has a lot of potential to be great with the single “Thinkin Bout You”. It seems like the album during the beginning starts off strong with a clear message unfortunately after getting derailed by fillers it seems to veer off the intended message. Her first album in four years, Beauty Marks manages to maintain both essential Ciara with dance floor and balladic fillers. With "Level Up", Ciara perfectly demonstrates her musical talent, whilest in "Girl Gang", we see a side of Ciara that not only feels rebellious, but also feels like filler.

Plus, you would expect her first album in four years to have more than 11 songs on it, wouldn't you?

A mediocre album without the ambition to flirt with the terrible, Beauty Marks manages to land in the middle of Ciara’s discography when boldness is required.

She retreads just about every move she has made before, even though the crop of new fellow songwriters and producers almost outnumbers the familiar likes of Ester Dean, Pierre Medor, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Rodney Jerkins, Jasper Cameron, and Theron Thomas.

This may not be a groundbreaking record, but it’s definitely one that delivers bops befitting of a woman who keeps on performing even when she’s served with court papers on stage.
