The performances are hit-or-miss--and many of them are trumped by Folds' own pair of songs--but the originality remains fairly consistent, yielding an album that should delight a cappella enthusiasts and, at the very least, interest the average Folds fan.

Like any compilation, Ben Folds Presents: University A Cappella has its ups and downs. The good definitely outweighs the bad here, though, and is a worthwhile listen for any big fan of Folds.

In the end, though, this is an unnecessary album that only clutters Folds's discography.
