It certainly stands among his best. [No. 105, p.60]

16 lightly fried examples of his gift for surrealist pop/classic rock synthesis. [Jan 2014, p.104]

Pollard truly delivers the goods with his album, and he's advised to follow this method more often, since it sure seems to work for him.

There has never been anything wrong with the oddities that emerge from Bob’s brain, and Blazing Gentlemen simply sees the man operating in as relentlessly fine form as ever.

You’d think we’d run out of things to find in Pollard’s music by now, but Blazing Gentlemen assures us that not only is that hunt still on, but it’s also still satisfying.

A strong solo release from a man who's been on quite a roll since 2010 or so. This doesn't quite reach the heights of Honey Locust Honky Tonk,A strong solo release from a man who's been on quite a roll since 2010 or so. This doesn't quite reach the heights of Honey Locust Honky Tonk, but continues in the same vein, with more fleshed-out rock songs, and less prog and power-pop, which seems to be the domain of GBV nowadays. 7/10 may not sound great, but five or six 7/10 albums a year from one man (in large part) with a really cool sound is a music fan's dream come true.
