This album over is a good album, with explosive moderate success. The theme of the line is very deep and has sentimental songs to describe it with a deeper meaning. Lana's Vocals go deep, dark and gloomy to high, woozy and Lolita -ish. At It's Best it is an album ranging from controlling prostitutes to, love un-hopefuls.

The album was very well-crafted, every detail has been thought of, songs inspired by the film "Lolita" Unconditionally were well placed, but do not give a maximum score for story from "This Is What Makes Us Girls" but sí, Album congratulations Lana Del Rey "Born to Die" are wonderful ,was indeed one of the best albums of 2012

The album is good in general, the music is complex and it has some beautiful songs on it. Nevertheless, the lyrics tend to be very simple and dumb and even though the violins play it good here, it lacks of maturity and cohesion.

Despite what many will claim, no, Born to Die is not the best album from Lana Del Rey. Yes, it's a good album. No, it is not perfect. She clearly lacked experience and confidence when she wrote and sang this album: the way she makes the notes go fast, and the pop-esque beat to cover any flaws she feared that could creep into her music. She clearly lacked experience and confidence when she wrote and sang this album: the way she makes the notes go fast, and the pop-esque beat to cover any flaws she feared that could creep into her music. That said, the album has some spectacular moments, especially the lyrics and her sultry singing. Highlight songs are Off to the Races, Blue Jeans, Video Games and Million Dollar Man. Low points of the record are Radio and This is What Makes Us Girls. In this album, what Lana needed was more confidence and experience to express herself properly. Expand

An instantly recognisable sound and a truly credible album, Born to Die is a fast burner. Del Rey explores themes such as heartbreak, money, alcoholism, wealth, celebrity and death in the most captivating and creative fashion. The mellow sadness, heartache and tragedy is cohesive throughout the album, but it never becomes too much. Each and every track is worth a thousand listens. One of the worstest albums ever. Lana was not ready for an album, she tryna to be an alternative icon, but its just a product of pop music. She don´t have any talent, she can´t sing.

Her best album in my opinion. Her voice paired with her lyrics and the violins and hip-hop beats are so different than what we hear today. It is a perfect album. Every single song is perfectly written. Each song is poetry. She really knows how to convey emotion in her singing. This was a perfect album.

To this day I don't understand all the hate this album got. It's a masterpiece of a debut for Lana del Rey, and it remains one of the most influential pieces of work for pop and alternative.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A timeless album that defined an entire generation. As many persons has already praised, the production, the themes, the aesthetics, her persona, everything about this era had a great impact in our culture. Many songs and video clips are iconic: Born To Die is just a perfect and magnificent introduction to Lana Del Rey. Blue Jeans adopts the Old Hollywood aesthetic beautifully, National Anthem is the most sensual, romantic, erotic and sweet hymn to Capitalism and american culture ever made, Summertime Sadness is an iconic song... The non-singles are amazing too, most of them paints this relationship with an old man/drug addict/millionaire/gangster/etc. but in the most frantic, wild, fun and romantic way. You can feel the attractiveness of this dangerous life only this partner can provide.
10 years later, many people keep discovering and being fascinated by this album because it aged just like wine. Lana Del Rey really changed the pop culture and transformed a lot of more alternative things into mainstream. The legacy of this album will be forever written in the history of music, and how paved the way for many famous artists today like Lorde, Melanie Martinez, Halsey, Billie Eilish, etc.

At this point, everyone should recognize this work of art as the masterpiece it is.

O Lana, at times, the album shines brighter than the sun, then at other times, suffers from an identity crisis. Some songs sound like a mix of Adele, and Florence, mixed with early Gaga, and Ke$ha. They start of great with a unique sound than, they shoot straight to soft-core dance pop. Her voice, though is ABSOLUTELY beautiful. She has the best voice of any female singer ever. It's a shame that she doesn't flesh out her music and evolve on the genius she set up in songs like "Born to Die", "Video Games", "Blue Jeans", and Dark Paradise". If she opted for that, then songs like "Diet Mountain Dew", the albums lowest point, wouldn't suck. Expand

The album is lackluster, and it's authenticity is BEYOND questionable. Not only that, but all the songs begin to sound alike. I think this is one of the best release this year, and it's only January. The album flows together really well. The production is also really amazing. I love the retro vibe that it gives. My favorite tracks are Diet Mountain Dew, National Anthem, and Off To The Races. 10/10 for me.

All songs sounds almost same through entire album. I enjoyed only 5 of 15: Born to Die, Blue Jeans, Video Games, Dark Paradise and Summertime Sadness. You definitely should listen to it before buying.

Spread over 12 songs, Del Rey becomes so ordinary, even bland, that no amount of little girl vocals or pouting can save her.

Confirms her as the most compelling new pop star around: half doomed romantic, half mordant cynic, with a distinctively conflicted vision of how love, fame and America work. [Mar 2012, p.94]
