AllisonDJun 7, 2005like all great albums they must be listened to beyond the instore click through. this album is amazing, real to the core. her lyrics tell stories like no other and she is carving her our path. even if the industry doesn't support her now they will soon come around to the world she has created.

hassansJun 1, 2005'Can'tneverdidnothin'' is a masterpiece-and like most masterpieces, it's ahead of it's time, and most people probably won't be able to fully appreciate it until a great deal of time after the fact. It's Nikka raw-just like it should be. GO GET IT!!

MikeJun 25, 2005The album is very good, with excellent rhythm, melody, and funk. The abc's theme in "Till I get to you" is a little annoying, but the other songs really make up for it. I look forward to seeing her in concert, as she is Excellent.

Nov 21, 2021Good album of rock from a powerful woman some songs are better than others.

It's the kind of splashy, impassioned, infectious record that could make Nikka Costa a star -- maybe not on the level of Prince or Madonna, maybe more like Lenny Kravitz, but a star nonetheless.
-
Entertainment WeeklyFull of screeching, hollering, and contrived "yo' mama" jive talk. [27 May 2005, p.141]
-
Understated pop funk that breeds cheap thrills but not enough songs.
