This band are making aural marvels that are sporadic, reactive, and organic — disguised inexactness that will have listeners frozen in an undeveloped state, merely connecting on an emotional level that can hardly be rationalized.

Words are sparse on caroline, but that indomitable, communal spirit courses throughout, accomplishing something nearly impossible for a largely instrumental post-rock album: to project urgency and timelessness simultaneously.

As stylishly coherent as it is surprising. [Mar 2022, p.26]

Yet for all these noisier moments, tracks like Desperately and IWR sit at the other end of the spectrum, striking a more consonant, conciliatory tone. It’s this ability to seamlessly blend opposing sounds and balance beauty with tension that makes for such an intriguing album, and very much confirms the old adage that good things are worth waiting for.

As a whole, the album seems to rally against the instant gratification which is a main feature in so much contemporary music—this was definitely not made with TikTok in mind. Instead, it encourages stillness and contemplation, rewarding deep listening with rhythmic undercurrents that lure you into a meditative state.

As background music this will get lost on you, it's a record to put on an absorb and float along with. It's like throwing a leaf into a stream and then following it's journey. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, it's not grabbing you forcefully but it is hypnotically beautiful and fascinating in its own way. The sounds conjured up with the most basic instruments are tranquil. Not without it's flaws but there are many moments to love. Full Review »
