Gloriously free of filler, it would be an easy and enjoyable task to eulogise every track on Changing Of The Seasons but it seems a little brash to over-stamp opinion on such an individual and immersive listen.
-
Touching on elemental fears and desires, Changing of the Seasons rewards intimate listening--in the final verse of the title track, a lover’s embrace suddenly silences any thoughts of straying.
-
At times, Seasons threatens to collapse under the weight of so much pathos, but thanks to her singular voice and eccentric songwriting, Brun makes extreme heartache sound particularly inspired.
-
When she’s supported by little more than her own acoustic guitar Ms. Brun sounds disarmingly secure, if not quite serene.
-
One who’s well worth your time getting to know.
-
Unlike "Treehouse," "Puzzle" or the melancholic "The Fall," which rank among the singer's best to date, there's not a whole lot at stake, making for a somewhat uneven album.
-
Changing of the Seasons feels like the record where Brun's lack of range catches up to her.
