Collected together the fear might have been that the sound would be found wanting. yet from 1996's Nenette Et Boni to 2009's White Material here is a sound always pulsing with the same intimate warmth of Denis' films. [May 2011, p.112]

As deeply interwoven into the fabric of her films as Tindersticks's work is, it's more than strong enough to stand alone, providing an intense and immersive emotional experience in its own right.

For completists and anyone else paying attention, it is the most expansive and rewarding route to the band's elaborate genius.

The heart-breakingly poignant cello hum of Opening (White Material) typifies the rightness of the association; when you add Stuart Staples's beguiling baritone, it elevates to another level altogether. [Jun 2011, p.123]

Although the limitations of Claire Denis Film Scores 1996-2009 will make parts of the collection appear inessential for casual listeners, this music will certainly be welcomed by Tindersticks fans and soundtrack buffs.

Though the work on L'Intrus is rather lean, overall the set showcases how these soundtracks find the group in their element. [May 2011, p.90]
